When Mia heads into work the next morning, she treats Elon as if nothing happened the night before. Other than looking surprised to see her there at all, he gives no indication that he’s shocked by this.
As she settles into her desk, Elon knocks at her door frame, hovering outside the door. It’s amazing how he looks effortlessly handsome every morning, so she struggles to not stare.
“I have back-to-back meetings today, so I won’t be back to the office until late,” Elon says, not quite meeting Mia’s eyes.
“You mentioned it. I’ll see you when you get back, right?” Mia smiles, still feeling awkward after their fight.
“You…don’t have to. It’ll be late by the time I get back. I can go over the proposal by myself, if necessary.” Elon clears his throat, the apology obvious in his tone.
Mia chuckles, breaking the tension.
“I’ll be here. So, I guess I’ll see you tonight.”
Elon nods, evidently trying to hide his surprise.
“See you tonight.”
