hearing this Lucas paused and thought for a second before responding with a slight interrogative tone.
"I'd like to hear what the request is first before making any big decisions."
the reason Lucas felt he was able to speak to the village chief like that was because from the reaction of the village chief when he saw the level of lucas' talent he thought he could take a gamble and use his talent as a form of status to help him take the initiative in the conversation so that he could try to get more rewards from the quest that he could tell was coming.
Lucas' plan seemed to have the intended effect as the village chief put on a pleading expression on his face as he said.
" esteemed sir please hear out my request I promise that you will be more then satisfied with the rewards."
Lucas gave an amicable smile as he planned to start listening to the village chief in order to get the quest before trying to negotiate for higher rewards. then he replied
"i'll listen to what you have to say but I hope it's worth my time as you know just as well as me that with my talent every second wasted is a second I could have used to increase my strength greatly."
the village chief gave a bitter smile as he replied.
"yes sir I won't waste your time then. there has been a problem recently as the magical beast near the village who used to stick to their territory have started venturing out and quite a few of them have been causing serious damage to Lang-Horn village. I don't need you to do too much right now as you have just arrived, I would just like if you would help us defeat some of the magical beast that comes too close to the village."
after hearing this Lucas agreed as this went along perfectly with his initial plan.
"If that's all you need then I would be happy to lend a hand."
after confirming that he would help a new screen appeared in front of lucas.
[ungraded hidden chain quest "magical beast infestation" accepted.

quest requirements: below level 10, talent of S grade or above.
system note: in order to see the grade of the quest you must first complete the first sequence of the chain quest. ]
Lucas was at first surprised by the rich rewards from the quest as to go from level 0 to level 1 you need 100 exp which was the minimum exp reward for the quest but it soon all made sense when he saw the talent requirement for the quest as it was almost impossible to obtain a talent above the A grade without amazing luck and a certain amount of money.
what peaked Lucas' interest was the grade of the quest and the system note at the end.
this was interesting as quests were usually divided into different grades based of how difficult the quest was and how good the rewards were and just from looking at the known rewards from the quest he knew that the grade of the quest couldn't be that low.
not to mention that monsters who have already reached the magical beast level were equal to elite monsters in other games. monsters were graded differently from other weapons and quest.
the grades of monsters were common, magical beast, demonic beast, demon lord, calamity, and unholy fiend.
the grades of the quests were divided into 6.
those grades were common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary, and divine.
The quest could also have the additional tag of hidden or unique. with both tags being able to appear on all grades of quest and any quest with either of the tags of more rewards than average.
the difference between them was that a quest with the hidden tag would only appear if the requirements for the quest were met. on the other hand a unique quest can appear for anyone with enough luck but once completed it will disappear from the game forever.
after accepting the quest the village chief smiled and said.
" thanks young adventure in order to help you slay the magical beast I'm willing to give you this weapon I forged in my youth to assist you in protecting the village."
[ mr. pointy ]( silver, long spear)
[level zero]
[ +25 atk ]
[+15% piercing dmg]
[200/200 durability]
lucas was surprised when the village chief handed him a silver grade weapon.
the weapons and items grades are, grey, white, bronze, silver, gold, dark gold, epic, legendary, and divine.
one thing lucas knew was that all items except item bound to the player lost all effect after the player reached 10 levels higher than the equipped items level.
"sorry, the spear was named by my daughter that's why it has such a comical name."
lucas cordially smiled and said "don't worry about it, it sounds like something my little sister would name it. It makes me feel more emotionally attached to it."
"i'm happy you like the weapon" the village chief said with a relieved sigh.
then lucas said "I should get going now. I should get a head start dealing with the magical beast infestation.'
after lucas said this he got up from his chair and walked out the door planning to head to the blacksmith to get his novice armour instead of a weapon as he already had a silver grade spear.
the moment lucas stepped out the door he realized that he forgot to use the status his high level talent gave him to try and increase the rewards for the quest but when he thought about going back to ask he couldn't bring himself to due to the high level spear he was just gifted. he gritted his teeth as he decided to follow his morals.
"damn..."
