He Will Regret This

He Will Regret This . . .

The Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor maintained his enigmatic demeanor, his starry gaze revealing no hints of emotion. His inscrutable expression left everyone in suspense, pondering his thoughts.

Silently, his penetrating eyes remained locked onto Qin Wentian. When he noticed Qin Wentian's gaze directed at him, he posed a question that hung heavy in the air. "Do you defy the first command I issued as your master because you believe that under my tutelage, you will lack nothing, receiving daily guidance and access to the finest resources?"

"Your Majesty, that's not what Wentian meant," Qin Wentian quickly responded, his voice carrying respect and earnestness.

"A 'Your Majesty,' so you no longer regard me as your master," the Eastern Sage remarked, his tone laced with a hint of irritation. Beside him, Dongsheng Ting's expression turned frosty as he chimed in, "Millions of particle worlds would eagerly offer their finest geniuses if my father ever chose to accept a disciple. Countless talents, surpassing your level, would clamor for his attention. In the immortal realms, no one, during the disciple's mentorship, has ever exhibited such audacity."

Dongsheng Ting's cold gaze bore into Qin Wentian, rendering him speechless. He understood that, regardless of what he said, he would still be perceived as defiant. The chasm between their statuses was insurmountable. While he hailed from a particle world as a mere genius, the Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor was a sovereign of the immortal realms. To everyone, Qin Wentian already possessed an exceptional privilege by entering the Immortal Emperor's tutelage, yet he dared to question the arrangements made.

As Qin Wentian contemplated this disparity, he couldn't help but sigh inwardly. The divide in their strength and status was vast. He pondered if Dongsheng Ting harbored ill intentions and intended to make his life difficult. If he accepted the Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor as his master, Dongsheng Ting might wield considerable influence over him. Could Dongsheng Ting's apparent dislike for him be tied to Qing'er?

"It seems that gaining favor from immortal emperors is no simple feat," Qin Wentian muttered to himself wryly. He realized that being recruited by the Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor would be a walk in the park if the Immortal Emperor genuinely desired a genius. However, for him, whose connection with Qing'er secured his position, he would likely remain in a lowly status even if he officially joined.

Taking a deep breath, Qin Wentian maintained his respect and bowed to the Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor. "Your Majesty, Qin Wentian isn't fortunate enough to become your disciple."

The surrounding immortal kings and witnesses stared in bewildered amazement at Qin Wentian. Many considered him audacious, questioning his daring act. He had just accepted a master, yet now he sought to sever his ties with the Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor. If word of this spread throughout the immortal realms, what would people think of the Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor? Rejected by a genius from a particle world? The sheer absurdity of the situation left them flabbergasted.

The Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor fell into a contemplative silence. His gaze, inscrutable as ever, remained fixed upon Qin Wentian, who still knelt before him. After a protracted moment, the Immortal Emperor finally spoke, his voice laced with a note of exasperation, "Did you truly believe that I, the Eastern Sage, would willingly accept a disciple with such a flawed personality? How absurd."

"You've already acknowledged me as your master," he continued, "and in the immortal realms, traitors are condemned to death." At these words, dread washed over Qin Wentian's face. Pitying glances from the immortal kings at the banquet deepened his unease. Initially, he had successfully become the disciple of the Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor, but now, he was witnessing his position unravel before him.

"Your Majesty," a voice suddenly interjected, piercing through the tense atmosphere. To everyone's surprise, it was Bai Wuya who spoke up.

"This young man's character may be flawed," Bai Wuya began calmly, "but is he truly fit to be your disciple? Today was meant to be a day of celebration, your Majesty's selection of a disciple. It is fortunate that we've uncovered his true nature before any further steps were taken. Instead of branding him a traitor to your sect, which would undeniably harm your prestige, why not treat it as a jest? Your Majesty can still choose from among the other seven participants."

Bai Wuya's words carried a certain undercurrent. Although he seemed to be defending the Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor's decision, those astute in the crowd discerned his intention to help Qin Wentian.

Nonetheless, Bai Wuya's suggestion held merit.

The Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor glanced at Bai Wuya before returning his gaze to Qin Wentian. "Bai Wuya has a point," he conceded. "Let us regard the earlier events as a jest. I am still in high spirits today, and my earlier declaration holds true: I will be selecting a personal disciple. If any of you immortal kings are interested, you may also choose one of the participants, including Qin Wentian."

"Your Majesty is most benevolent," the Undying Immortal King chimed in, expressing his agreement.

"Your Majesty is most benevolent," echoed the other immortal kings. The Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor dismissed Qin Wentian from his thoughts and turned to the remaining seven participants. "I shall inquire of you all first. Those who accept my tutelage must obey my commands without question. Among you seven, who still wishes to become my disciple?"

Qin Wentian, finding himself in an increasingly awkward position, pondered the situation. However, a voice suddenly resonated in his mind: "Withdraw discreetly."

Qin Wentian's heart quickened. Quietly, he retreated to the rear of the crowd, leaving the banquet area.

Taking a deep breath, he steadied himself, understanding that he had to rely on his own efforts to reach the immortal realms, even if it meant disappointing Qing'er's intentions.

The Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor acknowledged with a nod. "Indeed, after this, I shall take him back to the immortal realms before making further arrangements."

The Scarce Moon Immortal King expressed his gratitude once more, bowing deeply before resuming his seat.

Dongsheng Ting turned his attention to Que Tianyi, extending his congratulations with a warm smile. "Congratulations, Que Tianyi."

Que Tianyi, brimming with gratitude, bowed deeply and addressed him as "senior apprentice brother." Dongsheng Ting replied with encouragement, "In the future, should you encounter any difficulties, don't hesitate to seek my assistance."

Que Tianyi was elated by this offer of support. He resolved to nurture a stronger bond with Dongsheng Ting in the days to come.

The Undying Immortal King raised his wine cup, toasting to the Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor's new disciples. "Congratulations to your Majesty for taking on such a talented disciple."

The other immortal experts joined in the toast, offering their congratulations. The tension that had hung in the air after Qin Wentian's rejection now dissipated. Qin Wentian himself faded into the background, his presence fading from their collective thoughts.

The Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor raised his cup in response, acknowledging their well-wishes. "There are still many talented young individuals among us," he commented. "Wouldn't some of you like to take them under your wings?"

Deepflame, known for his straightforwardness, grinned and took the initiative. "Your Majesty is right. Since you've taken a disciple, I also wish to do the same. Blackpeak, would you be willing to acknowledge me as your master?"

Blackpeak, taken aback, quickly grasped the opportunity. "Disciple Blackpeak pays his respects to master," he declared with reverence.

Another immortal king, known as the Solitary Saber Immortal King, seized the moment and extended an invitation to Yi Yang. "Yi Yang, would you be willing to join my Solitary Saber Sect and acknowledge me as your master?"

Yi Yang gladly accepted. "Yi Yang pays his respects to master," he said with gratitude. In the immortal realms, immortal kings were a rare find, making this an extraordinary opportunity.

Three out of the four participants who had ascended the ninth peak accepted masters. Only Qin Wentian remained unclaimed.

The Myriad Incarnations Immortal King took a keen interest in Hua Taixu, extending her invitation with a sweet smile. "Hua Taixu, would you join my sect and acknowledge me as your master?"

Hua Taixu, his countenance serene, deliberated briefly before agreeing. He bowed respectfully and declared, "Disciple Hua Taixu pays his respects to master."

The Myriad Incarnations Immortal King applauded his decision. "Excellent!" She then playfully teased the Undying Immortal King, "Old man, you're being awfully casual with our junior."

In response, the Undying Immortal King maintained his composure, adding a touch of humor to the atmosphere. "How can I be formal in front of such a charming fairy?" His words, delivered with a hint of flirtatiousness, prompted laughter from those present.

At the level of immortal kings, one's aura was undeniably extraordinary. This was particularly evident in some female cultivators, whose exceptional talent and rapid cultivation progress seemed to enhance their beauty. As they advanced in the immortal ranks, their grace and charm would rival that of celestial maidens.

The Undying Immortal King couldn't resist a hearty laugh. "I'm simply stating the facts," he chimed in. Laughter rippled through the assembled experts at the banquet. The Myriad Incarnations Immortal King was the sole woman present, and she was strikingly beautiful. Many immortal kings had tried to court her, but she held herself to high standards. She needed no man to define her worth.

Amidst the festivities, four of the five nominated individuals found masters. Que Tianyi's good fortune led him to the Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor's tutelage, earning him envious glances from the onlookers.

In the distant and ethereal realms of immortality, Qing'er observed the unfolding events with a stoic demeanor. Her gaze lingered on the solitary figure of Qin Wentian, a pang of melancholy tainting her expression.

"Qing'er, this young man failed to grasp the gravity of the situation. The Eastern Sage Immortal Emperor had sincerely intended to accept him as a disciple. But even for a supreme being, a hint of temperament is to be expected. By rejecting the offer, he might have avoided the Immortal Emperor's displeasure. It's already quite generous that the Immortal Emperor isn't holding it against Qin Wentian," the Evergreen Great Emperor explained.

A glacial tone entered Qing'er's voice as she murmured, "He will come to regret his decision..."
