This chapter will be long and we will finally see the creation of another Yamato class ship.
I hope you will all enjoy and make sure to vote, comment and follow me if you want
Now enough of me let the chapter begin.
Edit: This chapter was split to make easier for people to read.
Location: Iscandar
Iscandar, a pristine planet filled with beautiful sceneries and landscape that has been untouched by humanities filthy hands.
You look up into the beautiful sky noticing Iscandar's twin, Gamilas, floating in the blue sky. You appreciate this natural wonder until an orange glow catches your eye.
You squint as the orange glow becomes bigger until it separates into 9 different things. A faint whistle could be heard as these objects tear through the sky and ultimately fall on you and the surrounding land.
Just before impact, you could make a cylindrical like object with a pointed end which reminded you of the old navy shells as the shells exploded before touching the ground.
"Area hit and results are as expected"
The one and only Yamato said from the safety of her seat as she gazed at the live video.
Now you may ask yourself
'Why did she bombard ME?!'
The answer is simple, terraforming. The robots that were brought in the cargo holds of the 3 ships were mostly mining and building bots, a small percentage was for processing materials and others were for transportation. In all they had to substitute demolition charges with HE 18 inch shells of destruction and the results were okay but not perfect.
Currently they were levelling the land that was to be their industrial sector which would consist of 4 universal plants, a bunch industrial processors and mining equipment.
For all of this, only the major pieces were transported as the rest were to be made in parts from Yamato's processing plant within her. The cruisers role in all of this was to act as resource locators and heavy duty transporters if ever needed.
"Reloading, turrets switching to last sector"
All,3 turrets of the massive battleship rotated to the right as the guidance systems on the Yamato calculated the long distance before raising the barrels and preparing to fire.
"Fire!"
KA-BOOM!
All 3 turrets let out their shells in a loud explosion as the 9 nine shells cut through the air with their target in sights. A few minutes later a large explosion was seen on the display screen as both dust and rocks were displaced by the massive explosion.
When the dust cleared the previously raised ground was now flattened with some craters here and there but they had now finished levelling the land for the processing plant, now all that was left was to find the minerals and that report soon came from Kitakami.
The screen switched to show a black haired Kitsune with two black tails swinging behind her.
"Emp …. Yamato, I managed to locate a large resource node of multiple minerals on a mountain close by, the main one being, iron, silicon and a large deposit of rare earth minerals, sending the co-ordinates."
"Thanks Kitakami, co-ordinates received loading wave motion shells. Please move a safe distance away"
Kitami was happy to oblige as she fired the RCS pointing the ship away from the mountain before engaging her main engine and moving a good distance away so that she's not hit by any stray shells if it ever happened.
"Target locked, shells loaded, fire!"
Another massive boom sounded as 9 wave motion shells were sent to their target. The fuses in these shells were delayed to allow them to punch into the ground before violently exploding.
As the shells were closing in to their target, a blue glow surrounded them before they impacted the hard rock surface, but these shells could over match 40 inches of hardened steel so a few feet of hard rock was like honey and the shells penetrated deep before they violently exploded blasting rock chunks and some soil high into the air as a small blue flame leaked out from the explosion.
The aftermath of the exotic explosion was a very jagged hole or crater that more deep than wide but luckily they didn't touch the mineral node meaning they could finally begin construction.
From the beach a majestic site of tens of robots would greet our eyes as we see them start moving in the direction of the mountain where the minerals were. Another commotion that was happening was at the processing site where builder bots were already laying down the foundation and machines that were going to be used.
The ones who were acting as transports were Yamato's 3 Pelicans.
So far it had been 3 days since they arrived on the planet and the first 2 days were filled with planning scouting and some arguments here and there. Today, analyser had sort out his robot minions and had swiftly started construction of the processing site while the mining bots stayed stationery until the discovery of a mineral which is why they started moving.
So far they haven't encountered any hostile animal and no siren activity had been detected in neighbouring stars. It was as if after the loss of that recon patrol they suddenly turned tail and hid in their pocket dimensions, or maybe there was a bigger piece of the puzzle she had yet to figure out.
Yamato didn't let herself think about it much as she looked at the timer seeing that there were a few hours until the sun went down and there were still a boat load of things left to do and not a lot of people to help. Yamato sighed before going back to her most hated thing paper work, if she could she would have replaced them with the revolutionary Hollo pads the humans of this universe made but no she just had to go out on missions and be constantly robbed of her free time.
If she had a coin for the amount of times she got attacked during a mission or even her free time, she would be a millionaire. Yamato sighed before focusing back on her work.
At the end of the day 2 more nodes of different minerals were found by Oicchi close to the mountain node and this needed two more salvos to expose the minerals. From there Yamato made Kitami and Oicchi to act as transporters even though they did complain.
The spent the good part of the evening transporting excavated minerals to the processing site where the dug up minerals were sifted and sorted to their individual minerals and were soon in the blazing furnace of a smelter then from there the melted minerals were processed into components like robot hulls, AI chips and other components. The excess minerals were stored in a container.
When night time reached both cruisers called it quits and let their AI do the rest as they retreated to the Yamato where their temporary sleeping quarters were.
Both cruisers could be seen on the elevator to the bridge where they waited in silence until a chime told them that they arrived. With a hiss the elevator door and the two sisters walked into the bridge.
"Yamato, we're ba--" Kitakami cut herself as she looked at what was a very surprising scene.
Their empress was sleeping and we all know how cute it is watching a Yamato class sleep and these were now starting to get entranced by the cuteness.
Kitakami was still trying to process what her eyes were seeing but Oicchi was already walking towards her with a hazy look in her eyes. Kitakami saw this and realized what she was going to do. Before Oicchi could perform the deed Kitakami was already pulling her back.
"Oicchi, snap out of it you're not thinking straight. Don't disturb her under any circumstance no matter how cute she is" Kitami said while slightly shaking her sister.
Oicchi seemed to snap out of it but gave a loud whine "But I want to do it"
Somewhere in their argument Yamato's tails flicked as her eyes opened to behold the sight of Oicchi who was struggling with Kitakami while practically shouting some words she couldn't understand. As they continued their play fight, Yamato yawned as she stretched her arms before standing up to stop the argument.
"Kitakami, Oicchi stop" Yamato said in a voice of authority as both foxes suddenly stopped as they quickly separated.
"I don't know why you're fighting on my bridge but since you're here we might as well go for some food in the cafeteria."
Both cruisers quickly agreed and followed her to the cafeteria where the special of that day was the Iscandarian feast. Both cruisers were filled with anticipation as they looked at the food that Yamato was preparing.
Normally, she would use the OCS to make her food as during battle or chances of it, you need to be alert and only now was when she was cooking.
At first she was a bit nervous to try cooking as she thought that she may have forgotten how to cook but she soon found out that that wasn't the case.
Her skills from her crew were always with her and more specifically her chefs who were very experienced and actually cooked dishes that made even made some delegates from Gamilas impressed.
Using the food that was in the freezers she skilfully chopped, beat and cooked them until the aroma from the food was starting to make even her mouth watery at the prospect of eating it.
Once the food was properly cooked she took the serving dishes and placed the food in them while storing the excess for later.
Moments later all 3 of were sitting on a table with their steaming hot food right in front of them.
"This is curry right?" Kitakami asked she recognised the ingredients but not the smell.
"It is curry but I've used spices and other things that came from different times in my life. Enough talking lets dig in. Thank you for the food!"
All three of them put a spoonful of the curry in their mouths and three were rendered silent. The first to react was Oicchi.
"This curry is delicious, no its more from delicious its heavenly!"
Kitakami would've said the same thing but she was too busy stuffing the curry into her mouth not noticing the heat of the curry.
Yamato looked at these two with a smile on her face, in all honesty she was feeling lonely and that was slowly eating her up as she still heavily regrets what she did to Shinano and other incidents that she could've stopped. But with these two cruisers there, that loneliness was starting fade as looked at these two.
Once they were done, she cleaned the dishes and waved them off to bed as a tomorrow was another day full of work. She decide to go and sit outside when she was done.
From atop her turret 2 she could see the construction lights of analyser's minions as they continued into the night and further into the distance she could see the faint blue signals coming from the mining site and the two unmanned cruisers which were doing transport work.
Looking up, she could fully the stars and their whole beauty. Her eyes reflected their light as she gazed into them.
Somewhere in this sea of stars was the star whose planet she swore to protect, and somewhere in it were the Sirens, Chaos and whatever faction that angel was in, two of those she knew that they wanted earth and her colonies to fall and burn but as long as she's there she would make sure that this doesn't happen again. She didn't want to witness another destruction like that in her universe.
Thinking about her old universe brought back memories of her past times, the good, bad and dark times.
"Okita, Hijikata, Kodai. I wonder what they would think of me when they see how far I've gone and fallen"
In her mind's eye she could picture the three of them standing above her with smiles on their faces as their entire bodies glowed golden. Just thinking about it brings out tears that she thought were long gone, but the scars of her past run deep within her.
"I'm sorry I couldn't protect humanity" her tears finally spilled across her cheeks and dripped onto the floor.
Yamato to people, was the strongest kansen whose supposed to be strong and lead her empire to victory. That's why Yamato ended up getting the mentality that tears were a sign of weakness but this ended up hurting her the same way it does here.
Yamato sat upright so as to wipe her tears away as didn't notice the world go silent as a familiar sound echoed throughout.
"Yamato!" It was a voice like hers that had the same tone and everything.
She didn't have time to look around as she immediately felt something hug her from behind.
"Don't let your sorrow and hatred to corrupt you any further, less you follow a similar fate like me."
Yamato could only see a few locks of pink but she was certain that it was her old self.
"Do not say that you are a failure. You know as well as I do that there things that not even we can control so please don't beat yourself up"
The voice pleaded with her but what that voice didn't know how deep those feelings were. How would you feel when you can only watch as your home was obliterated right before your eyes even though you could've stopped it. The pain, grief, anger all mix and this makes one get corrupted as we've seen in previous chapter's
But even with her emotions beginning to rise something in the voice calmed her down until her mind started to think clearly.
Yamato let out a sigh as she focused on the present on those two cruisers whom she now decided would protect them as long as she's with her.
The feeling of being hugged evaporated as the sound from the world returned. Yamato let another sigh as she decided to hit the hay after all that spirit shenanigans.
During the next week or so, construction proceeded as planned and they were finally able to complete and start up production of 1 of the 4 universal processors. Apart from that the build bots were hard at work and have finally been able to construct a very long conveyor belt from the mines to the processing plants which is powered by some two high output nuclear reactors.
This meant that Kitakami and Oicchi were now moved from transporting resources from the mines to transporting asteroids from space, which they complained even more but Yamato just casually forced them.
With the things planned for construction very resource heavy they need more than what the 3 mines can produce and this is where the cruisers come in by bringing mineral rich asteroids that are broken up and dropped to the surface using cruisers again, yeah it's looking more and more like they're being overused and I don't want say the s word for some weird reason.
Anyway, this meant that construction would increase and by the time another week was over, two more universal plants were started and 3 more mines were found and blasted open.
Now the cruisers could now take a break as mining and supply ships were finally being made with 2 of each already being commissioned.
Turns out when you remove the human element in a ship, it suddenly becomes very easy and cheap to build. Stupid humans making everything more complicated.
Apart from that, 5 assembly plants were constructed where 3 would be used for bot manufacture and the other 2 for equipment's and such. The 3 universal plants were to be used for construction of ships and the soon to be orbital stations.
Everything was going according to plan but there was also something brewing in Yamato's mind.
To defend a system you need to have orbital defences and apart from the Super WMG, which was her ultimate trump card, it needs to have a balance of different platforms that do different roles. Not like those single multi turreted installations the EDF made, those were crap and her guns proved it by tearing through them with a single salvo from her forward turrets.
What Yamato wants is a defence platform that can hold its ground against unnumbered foes and for that she immediately made blue prints for them.
The first design was a super defence platform ,SDP, in short.
The SDP would be shaped like a hexagon, but its stretched more on the sides, would consist of 6, 3 barrel turrets 3 on the upper side and 3 on the lower side. The turrets themselves would be based on the Andromeda's 17 inch quick reload canons. The turrets would be positioned in a way so that they don't have a blind spot.
Apart from turrets, the would have missile silos clustered in an 8 cell configuration around the hull. In total there would be 12 silos which would be a total of 96 missiles. Keep in mind that the missiles can be different as there are wave motion tipped missiles when the need arises.
The second blue print would be a less lethal one where its hull is shaped like a diamond meaning that only 4 14 inch dual barrel turrets with only 4 silos meaning it has a total of 32 missiles but what it lacks in missiles it gains in electronic warfare. Basically if your ship has any form of targeting capabilities or any radar its fried as well as that computer or AI that controls it.
The last DP can be classified into two Missiles (MDP) and AA (ADP).
A missile DP is basically something that looks like a pentagon but is stacked to the brim with missiles. In terms of silos it has 20 silos which equals to a total of 160 missiles and that's just silos it also has missile turrets that launch hypersonic, naah too slow what word should I use?
Basically, each turrets is like a rotatable square that has 8 cells within it that are enhanced with railguns that launch the missiles wait, they aren't really missiles it's just a big bloody tube that is entirely filled with explosive charge or wave motion energy in other types. These missiles shoot out faster than a hypersonic plane thanks to the railgun powered by a wave motion core.
These missiles once they smack into your ship would make you feel like you got bit*** smacked by an overpowered god. In the end these structures would have a drawback that when the shields are breached they explode very violently but this was fixed by adding mini cores that act as shield backups allowing the other cores to cool then the cycle repeats itself.
The last DP was all about guns, guns and nothing more but guns.
Yamato already noticed the CIWS on the cruisers Kitakami and Oicchi and had a small jealousy towards them as in her ships current modification she can't change anything or modify anything.
Thus her desire for a CIWS comes here where the hull is in the shape of the SDP, a hexagon, but smaller but this time the amount of turrets are many.
On the flat faces are two turrets that are two dual tri- barrel chain guns. Just think of a mini gun remove excess barrels and remain with three then upscale to the be a 12 inch gun then you have your rotat e piece of death.
On the slanting faces are 4 quad- barrel chain gun the size of 7 inch. And then dotted around the frame are multiple CIWS and CRAM.
Note the difference between the CWS and CRAM is that wiz fires a boat load of positron lasers while the ram fires missiles which can be either wave tipped or not.
And for the purpose of not being confusing we'll refer to these enlarged CIWS as the Phoenix CIWIS
Looking at the 4 designs Yamato feels happy about it and instantly puts it in their plan as a high priority task right below the construction, transport and mining ships.
It was going to be another long week full of towing.
Towing? You might ask. Yes towing, since most of the parts are being made on the surface they would have to tow it up to orbit before redoing the process until the orbital stations can be self-sustainable, which would mean that the space resources would first go and be processed in space where the processed material is largely used there but some will go to the surface factories.
A full week of towing later and they are finally able to stop as the orbital station can now grow itself.
Going back to our group of Kitsune we see that the bond between the 3 is growing as Yamato is finding herself trusting them more and being more open to them as the days go by, though not too open to reveal her past life.
In the end, Yamato was growing more attached to the young foxes and the young foxes were also starting to look up to the adult fox even going to the point of doing practise matches with their riggings but I don't need to tell how they were easily beaten.
As the days go by Yamato slightly fears that as she keeps on getting attached to them she might reach a point if any are killed or critically injured keeping a sane mind might prove difficult without succumbing to her emotions.
That was fear was present during the first week but in the second week she all but forgot it as she getting swept up in the quick pace things moved there.
It took another week for the orbital plant to finally start producing defence platforms as well as other ships and in the time that passed, Yamato was wondering what to do with the planet Gamilas.
Orbital scans showed that in terms of resource it was poor in what was needed thus there would be no use in doing a mining operation in that planet.
Thus the planet had to have a different role which Yamato thought of pretty quickly.
Gamilas would act as a humanitarian planet or basically when people come over they would only go Gamilas not Iscandar.
If that were to ever happen there would be orbital space docks as well as surface docks for ships and sleeping quarts though Yamato figured sleeping quarters would be on the surface as the orbital plants have no life support system at all.
It took another week for the plan to take place after multiple defence platforms were scattered around the binary system. To break it down, there were 3 SDF built, 7 Electrical warfare ones, 9 AA ones and 10 Missiles for a total of 29 defence platforms.
As for the human problem, orbital structures were already being placed in orbit and somewhere on the landmass at a specified point a large amount of supplies were being brought in as the time was almost near.
During one of the nights, Yamato would gaze into Kii's wisdom cube and be lost in its starry blue colour that doesn't seem to end.
"Ginga, please come back"
The memory of how that supernova ripped the earth apart including Ginga still lingers in her mind, never fading away.
So far it had been 2 months since she and her cruisers arrived at that place and so far she was only just a couple of days away from getting her back. Yamato thought as she dozed into a dreamless dream.
The next day she woke up to be give a full view of two big, about 200m big, foxes try to get the upper hand over each other. Looking at the number tails and colour scheme, Yamato now had a clue at who were the doers of this mess.
Yamato sighed as her ship erupted into golden cubes before violently colliding together to form a rigging of her powerful ship. With her sensors on she could notice two human sized things about 15 km away from her position and this just ticked her off that they were far away.
With some computer aided calculations she launched her main engine to full as a blue flame could be seen from her rigging, moments later a tear in the fabric of space could be seen as Yamato ploughed right through it and into a wormhole.
In this so called wormhole, time doesn't even move a microsecond which is saying a lot which means time basically stands still whenever they entered except for when she has anomalies things like angels aboard her ship or when she's near anomalies itself which is very strange if you ask her.
When she appeared on the other side, she ran a brief sensor scan before her radar picked up the two some distance in front of her. When her eyes spotted them she could immediately feel a sense of confusion in a way.
She's confused because the rigging on the two cruisers looked to be made out fire in a way and the one on the foxes seemed to be metal. Yamato chose to observe them in the meantime.
Both cruisers used katanas which wasn't that confusing as even destroyers like Ayanami used big swords. Both of them seemed to be in a stalemate as neither could effectively land a blow, which wasn't surprising as they were sister ships.
But if you compare Yamato to Ginga of course Yamato would be better in attacking while Ginga would have a better defence which sort of makes it equal but at the same time, the cosmo reverse system worked in many ways thus could act as a trump card in her fight.
Anyway, it didn't take long for their radars to pick up a battleship close by, which in turn made them freeze.
Yamato just had a smile through all this as she said, "Kitakami, Oicchi call your foxes and meet me on Gamilas surface"
After some minutes of warping and all they were finally on the surface and the foxes were sitting down as they looked down on Yamato who had de-summoned her riggings.
Yamato herself was looking at the two foxes and cruisers before she asked them
"How did you manage to summon your foxes?"
The question was valid as she also had a fox form but so far she has never found a way to call it out after that incident.
Kitakami seemed to be surprised before she answered, "We called them out from our riggings"
Yamato just looked at Kitakami silently saying that she needed a better explanation.
"Ohh, ahh what we did was that we focused on our core or more specifically our hearts, if you focus really hard you'd notice that there's something else dwelling in your heart and that is your foxy spirit. To call it out you just have to pull at it and it will appear."
After that explanation Yamato close her eyes as she tried what she was just told.
She could feel her core/heart pumping away sending large amounts of exotic energy throughout her body infinitely. Yamato focused more on her heart and just as told she could feel something else within her core. At first when she pulled at it, it didn't come out which made her focus harder.
Some sweat was now forming on her forehead as she dove deeper into her core before, with a massive mental pull, she managed to pull out her fox spirit.
A loud groan filled her ears as she looked up to find her ship engulfed in a massive blue flame and before she could say anything her ship transformed right in front of her eyes into the fox she saw that day.
Its appearance hadn't changed one bit as it gave out a massive roar that shook the ground that they were standing on, even the air vibrated from the amount of power it was displaying.
When it finished it gently landed on the ground next to its master as it eyed the two other foxes in the room. The height difference was about 133 meters give or take and this difference made the cruiser foxes feel like children looking up at an adult.
Yamato looked at the giant fox and immediately knew what it wanted as they were both connected.
"Fine you can go and train wherever you want, but make sure it's not anywhere near any construction site"
The fox gave a nod before bolting off in the direction of the ocean. As it was almost there the fox decided to jump as it poured its energy into one of its paws. This was a move it was thinking about during the waiting period.
It paw erupted into a concentrated mass of blue flames as it slammed down the paw onto the watery surface and the reaction was more than what was expected.
Even from Yamato's point of view the minute the paw touched the water she could feel the energy expand violently as it displaced tons and tons of water in the air creating a mini mushroom of water and the shockwave that followed nearly lifted them off their feet as a wave of concentrated air with water slammed into them.
Luckily there was no heat produced thus they did not get burnt to a crisp or radiation as exotic energy seemed to not produce anything radioactive like.
In the end Yamato let her fox continue with its experiments as she contacted analyser for an update on the important situation.
"Preparations are almost complete, by tomorrow morning there should be enough materials stocked up"
Yamato nodded her head as she looked up into the sky which starting to give way to night as the sun was setting. In the dark Yamato couldn't help but notice how her foxe's eyes glow blue in the dark as it tried ever so carefully to not disturbed her.
But when you weigh as much as over 90 thousand tons your own tip toes make quakes in the ground. Soon the fox managed to get into a sleeping posture and Yamato not missing the opportunity, clamped onto the fluffy fox as it was drifting off.
"Hey" one of the foxes ears turned to her, "tomorrow be prepared to meet someone you know from our past"
With that information out they both drifted off to sleep as tomorrow was a big day.
Part one finished.
