After a night of meditation, Allen still felt energized and not the least bit sleepy. This was perhaps the key difference between a magician and a knight.
Knights needed regular sleep to recharge their energy, while magicians could alleviate fatigue through meditation. Although magicians still required some sleep, it was much less than what knights needed. They often devoted more time to studying and researching magic.
As the early morning hours arrived, the noise outside gradually subsided, and the previous night's carnival festivities came to an end. Most people were ordinary citizens who had to resume their normal lives the next day, so they headed home to rest.
Albert, who had returned early in the morning, seemed to have enjoyed himself thoroughly during the night.
By noon, Albert had almost fully recovered. His eighth-level knight physique allowed him to bounce back quickly, even after two consecutive nights of revelry.
Having completed the sealing ceremony, Allen spent the morning exploring the capital. Most of the nobles had already departed, and within a couple of days, the capital would return to its usual state.
In the afternoon, Allen and Albert prepared to leave the capital. Although the city had its charms, Allen preferred to return to his own territory.
"Are you leaving so soon?" asked Lenerson and Leslie as they bid farewell to Allen.
At that moment, Princess Leslie was happily sitting on the Silver Moon Wolf that Allen had gifted her. She seemed delighted.
Allen had received some magical knowledge from her in exchange, making it a fair trade in his eyes. After all, Her Royal Highness was a noble magician, and her study was filled with precious and hard-to-find books on knowledge, magic, fighting techniques, and potions.
"Yes, Your Highness, this is still the capital after all, and our identities are not suitable for extended stays. There are many matters in the territory that require my attention," replied Allen with a smile. He had a favorable impression of Prince Lenerson, who clearly valued him.
"Yes, indeed. You've just been promoted to the rank of earl, and your territory needs you. Do your best, Earl Sirius," Lenerson said, patting Allen on the shoulder.
"Allen, Allen! Once you've finished reading the books, please remember to return them to me. I lent them to you secretly," Lei Xue whispered cautiously, looking around as she spoke.
Allen smiled and assured her, "Don't worry, Your Highness. I'll return them to you soon. And if you ever need anything, you can always come to Sirius. I'll take good care of you."
Tryant: her name can be Lei Xue or Leslie, so y'all don't get confused
To Allen, Princess Lei Xue was like a small treasure trove. Her study contained precious books and knowledge on magic, fighting techniques, potions, and more – books that were exceptionally hard to come by.
With their farewells exchanged, Allen and Albert left the capital. It had been a night of celebration and excitement, and Allen was eager to return to his territory.
Seven days later, they arrived back in Rose Town.
"Lord Allen, Earl of Sirius!"
The townspeople of Rose Town had already heard of Allen's title as Earl of Sirius. As Allen rode into town with the Wolf Cavalry, they greeted him with worship and cheers on the commercial road.
"It's good to see you back, sir," said Marco and Sparrow, who had been waiting as the two most important officials of the civil and military.
While he had been promoted to earl, Rose Town was still his own fief, and he had a responsibility towards it. Furthermore, Sirius Territory, being a newly established earl territory, had its share of underdeveloped areas on the border of the Principality of Lane. These areas were sparsely populated and relatively undeveloped, but they possessed abundant resources and fertile land.
Because they were close to the Strangforth Mountains, they were often plagued by monster attacks. However, this had the positive effect of ensuring the land remained fertile due to the absence of farming activities.
In recent decades, the area had gradually been populated as people moved in, forming a foundation for the future.
Allen's goal was to build a territory he loved from the ground up. While he had become an earl, he still considered Rose Town his home.
Sparrow and Marco had been with him from the beginning, and Allen appreciated their dedication.
"It's already great. As long as you continue taking care of the town, your contributions will not go unnoticed. For now, the rewards will have to wait, as Sirius Territory has just begun, and I don't even have a lord's city yet," Allen told them with a smile.
Sparrow and Marco were elated by Allen's words. "We are very satisfied with your appreciation, my lord," Sparrow replied with gratitude.
With their arrival at the small two-story castle, Allen ordered a hearty meal, including large portions of barbecue and wine. He also requested a map of the Principality of Ryan and information about the surrounding areas from the butler, Edward.
"Now, let's discuss the state of my Sirius Territory," Allen said, turning to Sparrow and Marco.
