I shared his bed

I slowly woke up the next day to the warmth of the morning sun filtering through the curtains. My eyes fluttered open, and for a moment, I relished in the cozy feeling of the bed and the lingering presence of Xender's embrace.

As I stretched and yawned, I realized that the space beside me was empty. Xender had left for work, as he often did, but a small smile tugged at my lips as I recalled the moments we had shared the previous day and then, this being the first time that we shared a bed.

It made me blush.

With a soft sigh, I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stretched my arms above my head. It was a new day, and I had a long list of things to do.

I glanced at the desk and noticed a neatly folded letter resting there. Curiosity piqued, I picked it up and unfolded the paper. The words were written in Xender's elegant script, and a smile graced my lips as I read his message.

He had left a simple note wishing me a good morning and expressing his hopes that I would have a wonderful day. It was a small gesture, but it warmed my heart.

Feeling a newfound energy, I set the letter aside and headed to the bathroom to freshen up. As I emerged from the shower, I couldn't help but hum a tune under my breath. The events of the previous day had left me feeling lighter, and I was eager to see what the day had in store.

After getting dressed, my phone rang, and I saw Agnes's name on the screen. I answered with a cheerful "Hello," and her voice came through the line, laced with amusement.

"When did you start banging the boss?" she teased.

I rolled my eyes, a faint blush rising to my cheeks. "Agnes, I'm not—"

She cut me off with a laugh. "Relax, I'm just messing with you. But seriously, spill the details! How was your night?"

I chuckled, shaking my head at her antics. "It was just a fun day out, Agnes. Nothing more."

She sighed dramatically. "You're no fun. Anyway, come over, so you can rewind everything back to when Ariel met Prince Charming."

"I mean how did it even happen?"

She joked and I laughed agreeing to come over before, ending the call with a promise to be there soon. As I stepped outside, the fresh morning breeze greeted me, and I spotted Kate, the chief maid, nearby. With a warm smile, I approached her and wrapped her in an early morning hug.

"Good morning, Kate."

She returned the embrace, her eyes twinkling with a knowing look. "Good morning, dear. I see you had quite an eventful day yesterday."

I chuckled, feeling a hint of embarrassment creeping in. "Yes, it was quite unexpected."

Kate patted my back gently. "Well, I hope you two keep things PG."

I blinked. She was tuning into the mother-in-law indeed. "You both slept in the same room yesterday. Only God knows what could have happened"

I laughed, assuring that we are not crossing boundaries until the marriage. She nodded obviously satisfied my by words and I waved at her once more before walking further outside, I noticed Xender's driver waiting by the car. He greeted me with a nod and a warm smile.

"Good morning, Miss Amelia. The boss instructed me to take you wherever you'd like to go if you're planning to go out."

I smiled, appreciating the offer. "Thank you. I'd like to go to Agnes's place."

He opened the car door for me, and I settled into the comfortable seat. The drive was smooth and peaceful, allowing me to reflect on the things of recent that had unfolded since my return to Xender's life.

Soon, we arrived at Agnes's place, and I thanked the driver before stepping out of the car. Agnes was waiting at the door, her face lighting up as she saw me.

"Amelia! You're here!"

I chuckled, giving her a quick hug. "Of course. You sounded like you had something urgent to discuss."

She winked playfully. "Oh, you know me. Always full of surprises."

Agnes and I settled into her cozy living room, catching up on each other's lives as if no time had passed since our last meeting. The room was filled with the comfortable chatter of old friends reconnecting, and laughter echoed through the air.

"So, spill the details," Agnes said, leaning forward with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"What's the deal with you and the boss?"

"Crap. I didn't even recognize him as the boss"

She diverted before I could say a word.

I nodded. "Most his employees from the museum hasn't seen him before. Always keeping a low profile, away from the public eye and even rarely visits his museums. Mostly, asks his overseers to do it for him"

"Right"

She breathed. "Then what was he doing at your house. Wait—how did it start?"

She uttered all at once and I put her curiosity to rest by telling the story from where he made the 'improper remark'

She gasped and her gasp heightened when i narrated how I slapped him. "What the-"

She exclaimed, obviously intrigued then I went to narrate how he came for me, trapping me in his house and demanding to sleep with me and then his other demands that went along that line.

It was a series of her gasping, rolling on the floor, laughing and being dramatic and by the time I was done with the story, she was smirking and shaking her head in disbelief.

"Did you just tell me something out of novel?"

I chuckled. "Trust me. It's very real"

She was soon asking me again about last night shenanigans, thinking we did it.

I rolled my eyes, chuckling at her persistence. "Agnes, I already told you, it's not like that. We're just spending time together."

She raised an eyebrow skeptically. "Uh-huh, spending time together. Is that what they're calling it these days?"

I playfully swatted at her arm. "Oh, come on. You know me better than that."

Agnes grinned, not giving up. "Okay, fine. But mark my words, there's something more going on there."

I shook my head, a fond smile on my lips. "You're incorrigible."

As our conversation continued, Agnes's expression turned more serious. "Actually, I've got some news of my own. You remember my neighbor, Ryan?"

I nodded, curiosity piqued. "Yeah, the one with anger issues"

Agnes snickered at my words, her eyes lighting up. "Well, turns out he's not what you think at all. We've been hanging out, and things have gotten pretty serious. I'm actually dating him now."

My eyes widened in surprise, and a delighted grin spread across my face. "Agnes, that's amazing! I'm so happy for you."

She blushed, looking almost shy for a moment. "Thanks, Amelia. It's been really great."

The warmth of Agnes's happiness made me feel even happier than I already was and we shared a moment. Soon, Agnes's mischievous side resurfaced, and she jumped up from the couch.

"Alright, enough talk. Let's do something fun."

Before I could respond, Agnes grabbed my hand and led me through her apartment, laughing as she went. We ran around like kids, playfully chasing each other from room to room, our carefree laughter filling the space.

Eventually, we collapsed onto the couch, breathless and giggling. for a while, the external world seemed to melt away.

However, the tranquility was short-lived. I felt a vibration in my pocket and retrieved my phone, my heart skipping a beat as I saw the headlines on the screen. The image that greeted me was undeniable—Xender, the man I had grown to care for, was captured in a passionate kiss with an unknown woman.

My eyes widened in shock, and my heart sank. Agnes noticed my change in demeanor and looked concerned.

"Hey, what's wrong?" she asked, her playful tone replaced with genuine worry.

I struggled to find the right words, my voice betraying the fear within me. "It's... It's Xender. In the news. There's a picture of him with another woman."

Agnes's eyes widened as she peered at the phone. Her expression mirrored my shock, and she reached out to touch my arm comfortingly.

"Amelia, are you sure? Maybe it's just a misunderstanding."

I shook my head, tears welling up in my eyes. "No, Agnes, it's clear. There's no misunderstanding. He's kissing her, and it's... it's heartbreaking."

Agnes's gaze softened, and she pulled me into a hug, offering a comforting presence. "I'm so sorry, Amelia. I can't imagine how you're feeling right now."

As the reality of the situation sunk in, my emotions swirled in a chaotic storm. The happiness and hope that had filled me just moments ago were replaced by a deep sense of hurt and betrayal.

I knew it! I couldn't have him all to myself and…

He wasn't the innocent man I hoped he would be. Crap.

I felt heart-wrecked.
