Chapter 1388: The Woman Who Is More Important Than Life

Baron Lawrence had never contemplated such a scenario, yet reasoning told him it was a possibility.

When that man raised the chair to smash it towards Enna Clark, Baron was too late to kick the assailant away. His body's first instinct was to spin around and shield the petite woman in his arms, bearing the full brunt of the attack.

The chair struck him right on the back of his head.

Then, as if possessed, the man pulled out a knife and stabbed several times. Baron could have dodged right away, kicking the man aside.

But then, Enna Clark cocooned in his arms would have been exposed, likely to be pierced by the knife.

At that moment, for reasons unknown, he reflexively chose the least advantageous move, embracing her, using his body to block the blade until an opportunity arose to kick the assailant away.

Before collapsing, he thought he had gone mad.

It was just a woman, after all. Even if he liked her, was she worth risking his life?
