Three horse-drawn carriages glided smoothly to the dock along the spacious road. Aside from the vivid bear head emblem on the door of the first carriage, the other two were easily recognized as nondescript commercial carriages. Such carriages, which could be rented at will in any city, not only could carry quite a few people but also had a luggage rack recessed into the top for plenty of baggage. With an extended compartment, it could accommodate more than eight people if squeezed tightly, which of course was meant for servants and retainers.
