The sun was almost completely set when I left my apartment, and thankfully,  I didn’t see Rafe's car anywhere nearby when I stepped out. 


Just when I thought I was going to get things under control, he came in and flipped my entire life upside down—and not in a good way this time.


I wish I didn't...FEEL so much when I was with Rafe, but I always did and usually, it was wonderful, the height of joy and pleasure but right now I was spiraling. 


There was just too much to think about and too much going on for me to make sense of it. 


The streetlights were on, but it was still dark. I suppose the only good thing about owning a stupid expensive apartment was that I was in one of the good neighborhoods. I didn't have to worry too much about being jumped. 


Suddenly, a low growl captured my attention. Okay, maybe I was too comfortable.
