Chapter 15 : Breaking Ties

*Lila’s POV*

I wasn't sure there was quite a thing as neutral ground in a city someone practically owned but I made it work.

Normally, I didn't go out to very public places with Rafe, it just wasn't in our best interest to be seen together. We'd get mobbed by the press and as someone of said press, they'd have an easy time finding me and demand information.

That’s why I compromised on a place, asking Rafe to meet me there so we could talk. No dates, no interviews, just…talk.

A place that wasn’t his and a place that wasn’t mine. So, here I was, feeling quite dumb sitting on a public park bench in one of the older neighborhoods, the trees and playground overgrown, worn down, and forgotten.

We wouldn’t be bothered here—I doubt there was anyone who wanted to be here anyways. I remembered it because someone from the Tribune had to come down and write a story on it because some jerk lit the place on fire and destroyed the grounds.
