Chapter 29 : Tragedy Strikes

*Lila’s POV*

If I was a lesser person who didn’t care about the past friendship I had with Leo, I would’ve done all the things you were supposed to do when trying to get away from your kidnapper. Bit, kicked between the legs, gouged out the eye, punch the throat, things like that.

I was rapidly losing that care the longer I was pinned to the wall, quickly spiraling from panic to panic-attack.

“Shh! Lila—Lila, please! Let me explain,” Leo begged. His eyes were desperate but I didn’t want to hear him out. I shook my head, but it only prompted another plea. “Lila, I can explain! Please.”

I had never thought Leo was the type of man to beg. He was too strong—he didn’t waver—but that was the problem, wasn’t it? I didn’t know him well enough to say that with confidence, especially now.

There was no way I was hallucinating. That was real, there were still hickies along Leo’s chest, his belt was still undone—only, there were other things I was starting to notice and catalog.
