“It means,” he said, stepping closer. “That you aren’t safe yet. You’re vulnerable as long as you’re in human form. Until you’re able to shift, he can get to you. But I won’t let that happen.” He took up a hand and gently pushed back a loose strand of hair. “I could never let that happen.”

“HE DID WHAT?” Aldith yelled while sitting on her bed.


“Hush!” I whispered. “He kissed me, okay? It’s not that big of a deal.”


“The hell it isn’t!” she shrieked and hurled herself over to my side of the room. She plopped herself on my bed, grinning like an idiot, and clapped her hands together. “You HAVE to tell me!”


And so, I told her every gory, juicy, embarrassing bit of it. Why did I tell my little sister the Alpha, who happened to take us in and shelter us, just randomly decided to kiss me? Well, she was really good at getting what she wanted.


“Holy crap!” she exclaimed and jumped up. “We’re going to be princesses again! You're going to mate him, and I’ll finally get to eat GOOD food!”


My heart jolted at that, and I stood to grab her shoulders, calming her down.
