Chapter 22 : Battle of the Bills

Haven’s POV

This is going to hurt in so many more ways than one. The joy I feel in my chest is only overshadowed by the one and only looming fact in front of me and my family.

Hospitals are expensive.

If you ride in an ambulance, you can easily be charged three thousand dollars just for the ride. Emergency medical attention always has three zeros after the first number, regardless of what you went in for, and insurance usually tries to fight you when it comes to what they will and will not cover.

Despite having our own piddly insurance, there is absolutely no way they are going to cover the entire stay that we had at the hospital.

Through the few days we stayed in the hospital to get my father back to full health, we wracked up quite the hospital bill. My eyes scan the emailed invoice that the hospital sent me, and my stomach churns at the mere sight of the bill.
