Elise hastily wiped her face with a damp cloth. Once she was sure it was free from any prosthetics, she concealed her features and joined the palace staff assisting the queen.

The gateway, the last barrier between Burlington's people and their enemies, began to crumble. One by one, the soldiers defending it fell to the ground, wounded, bleeding, and dying. Women and children cried out in horror as the peaceful kingdom was overtaken by a catastrophic conflict.

Queen Martyna, along with her companions, prepared to escape through the narrow underground tunnel of the palace. The enemies pursued them relentlessly, hunting them down like wild beasts.
