A Disturbing Past

Nilsa was awaken by her past memories, memories that hunts her sleep every single night she goes to bed, she has lost count of how many times she has been relieving her painful past, her breath came out in short pants as she tried to calm herself.

She stood up from the bed and opened the window which over look her neighborhood, she looked up at the Moon silently with her back facing the room .

" I remembered what you had said that night before you lost your last breath , who are they.....? why are they looking for you and me ...?, when will you give me answers to my questions.....?" she asked inwardly whiles looking at the Moon with a calm expression.

The only thing that met her questions was pure silence, she stood there for quite a while before closing the curtains.

She went to her wooden table and pick up a sleeping pill, she swallowed it down with help of the water on the table in her room, she crawled back into her bed and drifted off to sleep.

Next morning..

Nilsa's slender figure was in the kitchen, she was washing the utensils she used in cooking breakfast, the maids were assisting her as usual. After making sure the kitchen was clean from any dirt....she headed towards her room to take a quick shower even though she had already had one early this morning. What to do? She was a neat freak.

She entered her room and made her way towards the bathroom, she had a quick shower to release all the tension in her body, she came out with a towel wrapped around her lean figure, not bothering to apply any lotion, she quickly threw on some baggy jeans and black T-shirt.

She had nothing doing so she sat on her bed and pick up a novel to read when there was a knock on the door, she quickly threw on her mask and cap before opening the door to see the maid she helped last night at her door, she opened the door wide for her to come in and talk, the maid understands what her gesture means so she made her way inside, Nilsa closed her door, walking towards her bed she sat down and gestured to the maid to sit beside her which the maid did.

"Young madam, thank you for helping I and my brother, i'm very grateful for your kindness because if not for you I would have lost the only sibling I have, I also brought back the card you gave me. whiles I'm grateful I can't take this card from you, you might need it," the maid said taking out the credit card from her pocket but Nilsa stopped her and shook her head, she took her phone and typed on it before giving it to the young lady.

"Keep the credit card, no one will know you're using it because it not connected to the Walker family account, it a personal credit card my brother gave me on my 18th birthday, I've never used it before," she told her.

The maid hesitated but gave her a nod before going out of her room. Nilsa released a sign before going back to read her novel. She wasn't going to take that card back till her brother is fine and is discharged from the hospital, moreover she has never used it before so giving it to the maid who looks like she could use some help is not bothering her at all.

She has already sent her brother a message to help them find kidney for the boy. She was still reading when there was another knock on the door again but unlike the first one this one gave her a certain chill, it was as if she's not ready for whatever was behind that door, she wished for all her troubles to come to an end but she knew that the real deal just got started and only she can put an end to it so she willed herself and walked towards the door to open it, she opened the door to come face to face with none other than Kathrine.

"Dad said come down stairs, he wants to talk to you about something important so make it fast, " Kathrine said whiles playing with her phone, she didn't even bothered looking her way, after saying what she wants to say she turned around before walking down stairs.

Looking at Kathrine's disappearing figure.... she shook her head in disappointment and went down as well. Nilsa walked into the sitting room which was painted in grey colour with family portraits which she wasn't part of hanging on the walls, the floor have soft ash carpet spread throughout the room.

There were couches which were perfectly arranged in circle with gaps in between them with a glass center table which has a round large rug under it, the sitting room might look cozy and warm to others but too bad she doesn't feel any warmth from her family or home, it only her brother who gives her warmth when he's around yet she knew he wouldn't come and meet her in the Manor when he returns.

She hopes he comes and pay her a visit when he comes back, she have to explain everything to him otherwise he'll be very furious when he learns that she was forced into an arranged marriage which wasn't hers in the first place, pushing her thoughts to the back of her mind she went to the dining room and saw her father and elderly sister eating quietly.

She stood in the dining room waiting for her father to start talking.

"The Black's family Butler will be here at 7:00 pm, you should start packing up your suitcase, I also got you something to make you look presentable," Raymond said handing her a shopping bag .

"I don't know what you like to wear so I got you a dress and a skinny jeans as well as a T-shirt," he added feeling ashamed of himself which didn't go unnoticed by Nilsa but she didn't have the time to give his new side any thoughts because she have more important things to think about for now. Nilsa sigh internally before taking the shopping bag from her father.

"You're very lucky to be part of the Blacks by being my substitute, many young ladies from influential families are fighting to be part of that family but here you're being offered to get married to their elder son on a silver platter and you don't look even excited about it, you should be thankful that they're willing to accept you as you're," Kathrine's voice made it way to her hearing. Raymond gapped at his daughter in disbelief. Who says such things to someone who is doing then a favour?

Sometimes Nilsa really thinks that there's something wrong with Katherine's way of seeing things. Without bothering with her words...she walked back to her room to start packing her suitcase. She entered her room and sat down on the edge of her bed .

"I must as well as use this marriage as an escape route from the mother, father and daughter pair and I hope I don't face worst problems there tho," she thought silently with that she stood up and walked towards her closet to start packing her things.

7:00 PM; A black Mercedes maybach pulled up in front of the Walker family's Manor , a middle age man alighted from the car and went to rang the doorbell.

Nilsa who was sitting on one of the squared couches got up to go opened the door only to come face to face with a middle age man who had a kind smile plastered across his handsome face, he was wearing a black suit with a blue black tie paired with a pair of black leather shoes, his midnight black hair was styled perfectly , his emerald green eyes held lots of wisdom in them, his every feature was sharp but his eyes held kindness, generosity and compassion, Nilsa noticed all of this at first glance because that's what she has spent her fifteen years of life doing in the Walker family, her guard was always up around them.

"Good evening Ms. Walker," the kind Butler greeted politely which Nilsa nod to as a sign of acknowledgement.

"I'm here on behalf of the Black's family to pick you up, please," he added to which the young lady gave a curt nod before turning around and going into the sitting room to get her medium size suitcase and backpack, she exited the house with her things which the Butler quickly helped her put in the trunk of the Mercedes maybach.

Whiles the butler was packing her belongings into the car trunk, Nilsa gave her home a complicated look before opening the door to the front seat beside the driver's and getting in herself which shocked the butler but he quickly composed himself and got into the car and started it .

"Aren't all ladies from affluence family supposed to wait for their driver to open the door for them before getting into the car...? and aren't they supposed to take the backseat...? Why did this young lady's behavior wasn't what he had expected...?" the Butler asked himself inwardly whiles stealing glances at the young woman confusingly.
