FEI (18)

Hey there lovely readers; in this chapter, I'll focus on Fei and her high school life. I'll be diving into her private life and individual outlook, apart from her time with Mimi. I hope I do a good job and that it appeals to you all. Just to let you know, there's a slight time skip, and I'll be talking about the important events that impacted me and improvising as I go.

--------

As my second year of high school began, I faced a new class and seating arrangement. Unfortunately, there was no escaping the constant annoyance of Mimi Corey Marlay, who seemed to enjoy disrupting my peaceful life - she truly is the goddess of chaos. I know I sound like a broken record, but I can't help how frustrating she is! Thankfully, I have some good news that doesn't involve Mimi.

I have a new seatmate who is always sleepy, but she's not the one I want to discuss. A cute and quiet guy sits behind me, and we've become friends recently. His name is Mikael kwabena Dey, and he caught my attention with his confident and intelligent voice when he answered a question in class. His public speaking skills impressed me, as I'm not confident speaking in front of others.

I admire his courage and the authoritative aura he exudes, which initially made him seem intimidating. But as time passed, I became curious and wanted to know him better. One day, during our free period, I saw an opportunity to talk to him when he was discussing a movie with some other guys. I had watched that movie before but couldn't remember the title, so I joined their conversation, and that's how we started talking.

The next day, after our first lesson, we had another free period, and I decided to use it wisely. I waited to talk to him again when the teacher left the room. It wasn’t long before he was listening to a song on his phone that I recognised from an animation I had watched. I turned around quickly and excitedly asked him about the song’s title. It was "Immortals" by Fall Out Boy, and hearing him sing along with it made me happy. I joined in singing with him, and it felt amazing.

After our little duet, I realised we hadn't formally introduced ourselves yet, so I took the opportunity to do so. I told him my name and some things about myself before asking him to do the same. As it turns out, we have much in common, including our love for reading, movies, and music. It was refreshing to find someone who shared so many of my interests.

Overall, I'm excited to have made a new friend in Mikael. As the bell rang, signalling the end of our free period, I felt disappointed that my conversation with Mikael had to end. He was exciting and fun to talk to, and I enjoyed his knowledge of anime, movies, and comics. He listened intently to what I said, making me feel comfortable and happy. Mikael was an excellent and friendly guy, and I greatly liked him.

"Fei, would you like to join me in the cafeteria?" Mikael asked as we got up from our seats.

"Sure, I'd love to," I replied with a smile.

"Great, let's go," he said, grabbing his backpack.

We left the classroom together, leaving behind our books and notebooks as we didn't require them for the next lesson, which was physical education. Walking down the hallway, I noticed some people staring at us curiously. I felt self-conscious, but Mikael didn't seem to care. He continued chatting with me casually about random things.

"So, you're into romance, fantasy, and supernatural manga and comics, right?" Mikael asked.

"Yes, that's right. Why do you ask?" I replied.

"I was wondering if you've read any of these," he said, showing me his phone screen that displayed an app featuring a list of manga and comic titles. Some of them looked familiar, while others were new.

"I've read some of them, but not all," I said, pointing at the ones I recognised.

"Which ones have you read?" he asked with curiosity.

"I've read 'The Bride of the Water God,'" I said, tapping the title. It was a fantasy romance manga about a girl sacrificed to a water god in exchange for rain.

"That's one of my favourites too! It's so beautiful and romantic. The art is amazing," Mikael exclaimed enthusiastically.

"I know, right? The story is captivating, and the characters are lovable. Especially the water god; he’s handsome and mysterious," I said dreamily.

"He is, indeed. But do you know who else is beautiful and mysterious?" he asked teasingly.

"Who?" I asked, curious to know.

He leaned closer and whispered in my ear, "You."

I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body as his breath tickled my ear. I turned red as a tomato and looked at him in shock. He winked at me and smiled mischievously.

"Gotcha," he said, laughing softly.

I felt confused about whether he was flirting with me or joking around. However, his compliment made me happy and excited, and my heart skipped a beat.

I tried to act normal, but it was hard when he looked at me with sparkling eyes and a charming smile.

"You're so mean," I said, pretending to be angry.

"I'm sorry. I couldn't resist," he said apologetically.

"It's okay. I forgive you," I said magnanimously.

"Thank you. Your very kind," he said gratefully.

"You're welcome," I replied politely.

We reached the cafeteria and got in line for our food. We continued discussing manga, comics, hobbies, and families while waiting our turn.
