Chapter 70: What is it?

"Argh!"

Zhao Wuji screamed as he crashed heavily to the ground, the fresh wound on his body aching under the impact of Flender's strong kick.

"What are you doing in your room?!" Flender asked, his face flushed with embarrassment as he stared at Zhao Wuji's confused expression.

"Flender? Why are you here?" Zhao Wuji asked, eyes widening in surprise. He thought Flender was the one being attacked!

The awkward atmosphere lingered for a moment before both men realized they had been thinking the same thing. They had each assumed the other was getting beaten up.

"What's happening in the back mountains?" Zhao Wuji finally asked, breaking the silence.

"Forget it. It's probably just Feng practicing with his hammer again. Let's get some sleep," Flender sighed in a dull voice, relieved that it wasn't an intruder or a real attack.

The two men couldn't do anything about Qin Feng. When that guy got serious about his training, it was best not to interfere.

Back Mountain.

"Damn it… This stupid thing even knows how to resist now!" Qin Feng grumbled, glaring at the bug. He had activated the full power of his Tiangang Hammer, even using SOUL Strength, but nothing seemed to faze the creature. Instead, his own arm had been bitten a few more times.

After devouring his red elixir, the bug seemed to have become even more resilient. A faint power radiated from its body, making it tougher than ever.

"Squeak!" The bug squealed defiantly as it scurried around Qin Feng's hammer, treating it like a playground.

"I'm going to smash you to pieces!" Qin Feng roared, raising his hammer and slamming it down again.

Half the forest was destroyed, and a nearby hill crumbled to the ground under the force of his attack.

"Fine, I give up," Qin Feng muttered breathlessly after hours of hammering. Though he'd gained millions of soul power in the process, he still couldn't make the bug budge. Defeated, he admitted he was unlucky this time and vowed to get stronger before dealing with this annoying pest again.

Exhausted, he returned to his room and fell asleep immediately. He failed to notice that, on the other side of the room, a figure slowly climbed up from under the bed.

It was Tang San. Hearing Qin Feng return, he had hidden under his bed, fearful that his head might end up as a smashed watermelon. After all, Brother Feng had been hammering away furiously in the back mountains for hours.

Early the next morning…

A loud bell rang across Shrek Academy, signaling the start of morning exercises. A knock sounded at the door, pulling Qin Feng and the others from their beds.

"You're late!" Flender's voice boomed as he waited below, already wide awake.

"Dean, why are you up so early today?" Oscar asked, his eyes still half-closed with sleep. The others weren't any better—all of them looked like they were still dreaming.

"I see that you're all quite drowsy. Let's move our class to nighttime instead," Flender said with a faint smile.

Oscar blinked in confusion and exchanged a look with Ma Hongjun and Dai Mubai. Was the dean really being so kind? Did he hit the jackpot and feel generous enough to let them rest until class started at night?

"Of course, I'm very kind. Now go run thirty laps to wake yourselves up!" Flender ordered, his smile turning sinister.

"What…" The group groaned in unison, but they had no choice but to comply.

"Let's get this over with. It's just thirty laps," Oscar muttered, leading the way.

"Yawn… This is exhausting," Qin Feng mumbled, his eyes looking like panda circles. It felt like he had only just laid down and hadn't slept at all.

"Is Shrek Academy always this boring? Running every single day?" Ning Rongrong complained as she slowed her pace to jog beside Qin Feng. "How about ditching the run and going into town with me, Qin Feng?"

"No way. My panda eyes will scare everyone off the streets," Qin Feng replied, shaking his head. He was utterly drained and just wanted to sleep.

"Xiao Wu, want to come with me and buy some pretty clothes?" Ning Rongrong asked, turning her attention to Xiao Wu.

Xiao Wu's eyes lit up at the mention of clothes, but when she saw Tang San's expression, she hesitated and eventually sighed. "I'll pass."

Ning Rongrong then tried Zhu Zhuqing, but Zhuqing also declined. Annoyed, Ning Rongrong ran two more laps alone, her frustration growing.

Noticing her discontent, Oscar slowed down and jogged alongside her.

"Rongrong, are you tired? Want to eat one of my big sausages to regain your strength?" Oscar asked, waving his hand dramatically. A large sausage appeared in his palm.

But he didn't notice the flicker of disgust in Ning Rongrong's eyes. Oscar, oblivious to matters of the heart, simply thought she was too exhausted to respond.

"Rongrong, just have one. You'll feel energized in an instant," Oscar insisted.

"I don't want it! Get away from me!" Ning Rongrong snapped coldly, suppressing the fire within her.

Oscar, not catching the signals, switched tactics. "Ah, there's one more sausage. Let me show you how good it is," he said, taking a big bite and giving her an exaggerated, satisfied look.

In his mind, he thought Ning Rongrong was just embarrassed to eat alone, so he wanted to encourage her by eating it himself.

"Are you serious?!" Ning Rongrong finally exploded. "I still have two thick loaves at home—why don't you take those and just roll out of here!"

With that, she delivered a swift kick to Oscar's side and stormed off, leaving the group dumbfounded.

"Uh… what just happened?" Ma Hongjun and Dai Mubai stared at Ning Rongrong's retreating figure, utterly confused.

"I have no idea. I offered her my sausage for free, and not only did she tell me to get lost, but she also kicked me. And what's with the 'two thick loaves' comment?" Oscar lamented, his face filled with despair.

"Um…" Qin Feng and Dai Mubai's lips twitched at the scene. They had seen everything but decided not to say a word.

"Brother Feng… why are girls so weird?" Oscar mumbled, looking like he'd just had his heart broken.

"Take this and look at yourself," Qin Feng sighed, handing Oscar a mirror.

"What's this for? Are you saying Rongrong's out of my league and I shouldn't bother trying? Is that why you want me to see my reflection?" Oscar asked, his small eyes brimming with melancholic confusion, like a dejected little prince.
