You Don't Need a God, You Just Need Rizz!

"I must redeem my family's honor!"

Clap! Clap! Clap, clap, clap!

Her tightly closed eyes shot open in shock to find the smirking goblin applauding her.

"Spare me the details, my apprentice. I now understand why you're wandering without any true goals and why you think a pact or covenant would help you out. Most importantly, I can confirm that it's not a pact or a covenant that you need. It's me, your mentor."

Sabina tucked her face behind her knees, wrapping her arms around her legs. "... How can a low-level goblin help me more than a god?"

"First off," Rizz replied with a wink, "cause I don't yet know what happened to the old gods. Hell, I don't know if they disappeared altogether, went into hiding, or rebranded themselves as your patron ancestors and the Crystalline Church. And I'm currently a little too weak to go god hunting."

Sniffling, Sabina lifted her head slightly. "... God hunting? You make it sound so simple…"
