A Worrisome Night

As the sun fell behind the mountains on the horizon, the bustle of the dirt roads lessened dramatically.

All the pop-up shops were either gone or being loaded onto carts. A few lamps were hung up by the buildings in the area, but there were no lampposts of any kind. The local merchants and traders had to supply their own lamps while breaking down their tents and stands.

A beautifully clear night sky spanned the heavens. However, the scene wasn't enough to warm up Kerl's shivering heart.

With no backpack, he patted the coin pouch on his belt. "Perhaps he'll arrive tonight. Then I should dine at the place he's most likely to find."

Kerl glanced at the lamplit sign above the door.

"The Plump Pig… It's been a while."
