35. Carter

My injured leg began to betray me before the final round began. I could barely stand, I felt no pain at all, but it was as if my brain could not send signals to my foot to move.

I looked at the faces of the finalists, it was something I could handle, plus that skinny guy who had hundreds of instruments on his back, it was as if he had brought half a building with the aim of not running out of weapons.

The biggest problem was the golden-haired masked guy. He was still in a white military suit and there was no blood on him. I didn't know what his methods had been to overcome the building, but I had no doubt that he had had no difficulty whatsoever.

"Shit" I thought, as people started shouting my name.

I reminded myself that I had a duty to win so I could pay Aaron the money, so we could finally be together, everything was ruined when the announcer gave the battle as started.
