Epilogue : Freedom

>>Sorin

The soil over me was being lifted and right at that moment I opened my eyes. A loud gasp left my mouth as I breathed once again which was followed by the wandering of my eyes in the dark compact place.

Am I in a coffin?!

I touched the wood around me while I could hear the sound of magic from outside and the weight on the coffin getting less.

Ah… I must be in my grave.

After all things were taken care of on my end, I drank the potion given to me by the Oracle.

A potion that kills you temporarily.

It's actually something that slows down your heartbeat to a level that it can't be detected and keeps you in a coma-like state.

I relaxed a little knowing it was all over and waited quietly till the time the coffin lid was removed and a flash of light entered my eyes.

Off!

I closed my eyes momentarily and then sat up.

I slowly opened my eyes again and saw the Oracle. She smiled at me, "You're up." She ended her light magic she was using and there was darkness again.

I smiled back at her, "And you're right on time." She helped me out of my coffin and I made my way up the ground only to find another person waiting for me there.

"Sorin," Leroy looked at me with a sad expression.

I smiled at him, "Hey!" I waved my hand at him and he came over quickly, then wrapped his arms around me.

The Oracle used her magic to put the coffin lid and the soil back together as it was while Leroy kept me in his embrace. He was hugging me quite strongly.

The night was moonless and there was barely any light to see. It was the perfect night for an escape. I took a deep breath and broke the hug, "It's time," I told him as I held his hands.

He nodded, "This isn't goodbye," He said, "I'll come visit whenever I can."

I chuckled, "Alright." I said, "I'll write to you when you're not visiting me."

He smiled back, planted a sweet kiss on my forehead and then slowly started stepping back, "See you," Our hands slipped out of eachothers and we turned in opposite directions.

"See you.."

It felt a little strange, parting from my one and only brother but this was for the best. We were now going to live our own lives.

"You've done a great job." The Oracle said and I smiled sarcastically, "I mean it, no useless deaths of war. A peace treaty that has been signed and happy families." She took a deep breath, "We accomplished what we set out to do." We both began to walk in the darkness.

"Yeah," I took a deep breath, "Finally, it's over."

"It's not just over." She said, "For you, get another beginning."

"I guess so," I was looking forward to it, "And you?" I asked.

"I cast the spell," She took a deep breath, "So I'll receive a harsher punishment." She seemed calm, "Whatever it is, I'm ready for it."

"I see," I nodded

"You've got a blessing too," She smiled as she walked beside me, "For saving so many lives."

"What blessing?" I looked at her in confusion.

She placed her hand on my stomach stopping me as well, "There's a child inside of you, new life is always a blessing."

I froze in my path, "What?" It just didn't feel real, "Wait, really?"

"Yes," She chuckled at my response, "One of your wishes was not to be alone right?" We began to walk again and we made our way into the forest, "It's been granted too."

My heart started pounding as it still felt so unreal, "I've been puking my guts out every morning because of this kid inside of me?" I looked at her with my mouth wide open, "I thought that was warning signs!"

It actually made sense. I had food cravings and then every morning I felt sick..

Oh God!

It was this!!

She giggled, "Now, you won't be alone." She said, "Your wish is coming true."

I placed my hands softly on my stomach and smiled softly, "Yes," I felt elated.

I've right my wrongs. I've saved lives and I've undid destruction. I've done my part, and I've been given a gift…

A reward for all my pain!

I'm going to leave, I'm going somewhere far away but now, I had my hands on my stomach, I'll have my own family…

I'll now have my own family!!!

I couldn't help but grin!

This was really good!

"Do you know who the father is?" The Oracle asked

I froze at the question, then relaxed and began to walk again, "Who cares," I replied, "He won't be meeting this kid anyway."

Right?

It doesn't matter which one of them is the father. Although this does confirm I slept with at least one of them, but it's alright.

It wasn't all that bad.

I get to have my own family now.

I looked straight ahead.

I'm going to a place where I'll make new friends too. Friends and people who'll know me for the real me and a family of my own.

For the first time in weeks, I felt truly happy.

The new found thoughts gave me solace, they gave me the comfort I had been looking for far too long.

Finally, I was going to get it.

>>Kaan (A year later)

"See," I said to the two fellows who stood around the empty grave with me, "I told you she wasn't dead." I glared at Leon and Enri who were confused and frustrated.

"I always got a feeling she was alive…" Leonidas sighed, "But I could never bring myself to open her grave in fear of being wrong."

"So, she left us on purpose?" Enri was mad. He probably felt the most betrayed because Sorin died in his arms. He was right beside her.

"She betrayed us all," Leon was bewildered. He had his mouth open in confusion and anger, "She-" He was so frustrated he didn't even know what to say, "She betrayed us all!?"

"Fuck!" Enri clenched his fists "She's alive?" He looked at me, "But she could be anywhere now if she is! She's probably left the night she was buried!"

We all looked at the clean empty coffin right below Sorin Maximillian's gravestone. There was no sign of her body there and upon using some magic for inspection, it showed that there wasn't any deadbody in there to begin with.

"The Oracle held her funeral." Leonidas said, "That means she lied to us too."

"But the Oracle's dead." Enri said in a confused tone, "People say the light took her."

"Why did she do this?" Leonidas ran his hands through his hair in an attempt to calm himself down.

gritted my teeth. She must have planned this whole thing. Why else would she suddenly force me and Leon away?

She did everything on purpose!

"Well," I folded my arms, "That just means we'll have to find her and ask her."

They both agreed.
