"Allow us to confiscate your baggage for the time being; we need to check if there are no threats to our subsistence and the city there," a soldier said. He had a better insignia to show his rank in the hierarchy, above the other soldiers. Kyrie and Zillia cared little about it.

"Won't happen. Our stuff is ours. I can trust those who died on a battlefield doing their duty, but I won't trust what is mine to someone I don't know," the soldier was a solid half-foot taller than Kyrie. He had to look up to stare the soldier eye to eye. It was annoying.

"It is the law, kid. You have to obey it, liking it or not, if you want to stay here," the soldier spoke in an unflexible tone, better yet. He wasn't antagonistic but wasn't willing to move out of the way either.
