Her Uncertain Life Span.

Shikera glanced up at the hospital's banner, surprised at the change of name.

-

Lucas Feliz Group of Hospitals.

-

She turned to Ethan who was standing beside her, his facemask and hoodie covering his face. They had come alone to the hospital and that was why he had taken extra measures in covering up his face.

"When did you make an appointment with Krystal?" She asked.

"Krystal?" Though Ethan knew she was talking about her doctor, he decided to pull her leg a little, "I only know Dr. Alexander."

If only he could get someone to tell him there was not much difference between him and Raymond, concerning how lame their jokes was.

Shikera sighed loudly, rolling her eyes.

"Nevermind, Ethan----Sorry---Mr. DeLoach." She hurriedly corrected herself.

"Call me Ethan from now on."

"You asked me to call you Mr DeLoach!" Shikera exclaimed, wondering what was going on in this man's mind.

Ethan stepped forward, passing through the revolving doors of the entrance and Shikera followed him.

"I thought you wouldn't know how to pronounce it. But it turns out you can." He replied her, adjusting his facemask. Entering through the public entrance was making him nervous which was why he was sustaining the conversation with Shikera; to reduce his anxiety.

"You thought?!" Shikera scoffed, "I am a reporter and I can speak 5 languages fluently. Ethan... Ethan... Ethan!"

Ethan stopped dead in his tracks, turning to Shikera.

"Your noise is attracting people's attention to me." He complained, on his face an unusual expression of pouting.

"You got it all wrong. They're looking in our direction because I'm beautiful and not for our noise or something. Watch this."

He watched as Shikera walked away from him and soon he noticed that all the eyes he had been feeling on himself, seemed to be non-existent. Was she really that beautiful?

"Your check up is done, Kera. Will you go see Leonard while I talk to your husband?"

Shikera nodded and walked out of the room, her gait showing her eagerness.

"Who's Leonard?" Was the first question that came out of Ethan's mouth.

"Our friend." The doctor replied, looking at him with a half smile on her face.

"But I don't think you would want to talk about that, Mr. DeLoach." She continued.

Ethan removed his hoodie cap slowly, his eyes fixed on the doctor's.

"She said something before she fainted four days ago." He started, maintaining eye contact with the doctor.

"Something about she won't live long..."

"Oh that? From science point of view, Kera is probably not going to live past 30 or 35 at the latest."

"What?! Is there something else wrong with her that I don't know about?" He asked, his eyes burning with intensified curiosity.

"You know about it and at the same time you don't."

"What are you saying?"

"Mr DeLoach, aren't you wondering how I became Shikera's doctor? Why Mr Anderson felt it safe for me to know of the arranged marriage between you too? And why I have been addressing you informally since you came in?"

Ethan brows furrowed. What the doctor was saying was true.

The doctor continued, her half smile now blooming into a full one.

"It's alright to hide, Ethan DeLoach. Everyone of us are hiding for one reason or the other."

Cyprian walked into the ever empty 'Assistants floor', wondering what luck she had for her to be chosen as the clerk to an assistant she had never seen before.

Shikera who was a receptionist was not required to come to work today while she, who was a clerk was asked to come by the assistant. As if they had ever given her any work.

She sat down at the lone chair in the middle of the room and rested her head on the table. She would just use the time to catch up on sleep instead.

"Miss Leigh?" A voice called out to her.

She looked up to find a woman who looked very familiar to her.

As it occured to her that this might be the assistant she was working under, she shot up to her feet.

"Yes, I am Cyprian Leigh."

"I wanted to inform you that we will be equipping the floor soon so you should not bother about you being the only one on this floor." Ruthlyn said. Was this the woman who was shaking her shaky brother?

Having seen her face, she turned to leave before Raymond would meet her here. She had never interfered in her brother's love life and she would never. Because...she wouldn't want him to interfere in hers too.

Seeing that she was already leaving, Cyprian hurriedly stopped her.

"Is that why you asked me to come in today? Even though it's the weekend." She asked, trying to be subtle in showing her dissatisfaction.

"I didn't. You are not working under me."

"You are working under me." Raymond announced as he walked into the office.

Ruthlyn quietly excused herself and walked out. She did not know the dynamics between them but it seemed they were having it bad. What if they decided to settle and show how much they love themselves right there and then?

Her phone rang as she got into the office and she looked down at it.

Enoch DeLoach Idiot Cute Senseless Love

-

Why was this idiot calling her now? Nevertheless, she had to pick up her phone.

"What's the matter?" She asked, as soon as the call connected.

"Mrs. DeLoach! You really picked the call."

Ruthlyn hung up on the call and sighed. When would this idiot come to his senses and stop calling her his wife?

Her phone rang again and she picked it, berating herself inwardly for not having the ability to ignore him.

"Mrs DeLoach, your husband will soon be raped!" He yelled from the other side of the line.

Ruthlyn expression grew serious. Even though he was immature, he had never made a prank as serious as this.

"Where are you?" She asked.

"LK Bar. I've been here since last night."

"I will be there in 10 minutes." She notified and hung up on the call.

If he allowed them to rape him within that 10 minutes, then he was not worthy of calling himself a man.

She hurried into the elevator and pressed the ground floor button. She dialed Ethan's number on the way and immediately he picked,

"Sir, Enoch has been... " She said, before Ethan interrupted her.

"Do what you must. And show them no mercy."

"Yes Sir!" She nodded, happy that she had got the approval she needed.

Even though it was only Ethan who hid his face, none of his family members face could be seen on social media and everyone wondered why.

They were going to know why today.
