"And when the marks fade, another lie?" she asked irritatingly.
He smirked mischievously at her words, before leaning over to whisper into her ear, "No worries, I will renew them every night."

Shikera skipped down the stairs, taking two at a time as she supported her balance by holding unto the rails. Getting to the living room, she was about to successfully sneak into the kitchen when she heard Ethan's voice.

"Are you hiding from someone?" His voice held a hint of mockery, as if he was taunting her sneaking capability.

"From you," Shikera answered inwardly, while plastering a wide smile on her outer face.

"Who would I hide from? I was simply going to get water in the kitchen," she lied, and could see from Ethan's expression that he didn't believe her one bit.
