"We don't usually meet like this," Serene said to Nora as they seated themselves around the table at a cafe.

"I know, I had to arrange something without the other girls."

"Why?"

"So?" Serene asked.

"I didn't want to have to tell you this, Serene."

"What's wrong?"

"The others," Nora said. "They're nothing like me. They're nothing like us. Savages, that's what they are."

"What happened?"

"You don't know?"

Serene stared at her blankly.

"I thought you knew!" Nora said.

"I don't know."

"Trust me, what they said. So wrong. I don't believe it, and you shouldn't be mad either, but I understand if you are."

"Nora, spit it out now!"

Nora shot her a nasty look before she changed it to a gentle smile. "The other girls are joking that the reason why you're not pregnant is because you're barren!"
