Serene put her hand in Lachlan's as she got out of the carriage. Her heels hit the pebbled path with a soft thud and she walked to her Butler. He bowed to her and smiled warmly.

"Elegant as always, Your Ladyship," the Butler said.

"Thank you," she replied.

"Elegant? She's not as elegant as you think," Lachlan said, laughing. The Butler's mouth fell open as fury flashed in his eyes.

"What! What are you saying?!"

She shook her head. "I am a lady, my butler. I don't strike men. If you'll do me the honour?"

The Butler stepped forwards and fisted his hand. Then, with one solid punch, he landed it onto Lachlan's stomach and he bent forwards, clutching onto it in pain as she saw his gaze on her turning to stone.
