Late Night Talk Between Besties

Chen Qing was stunned. Although she trusted that Su Chen wouldn't do something foolish, she hadn't expected to hear from Long Qingya that Su Chen had apparently done something quite remarkable. Long Qingya then started to make up stories, praising Su Chen with fabricated good deeds, as she couldn't reveal the true things she knew about him.

She couldn't possibly tell Chen Qing that she could hear her son's inner thoughts and knew he was a good person, so in Long Qingya's stories, Su Chen became a Samaritan who helped old ladies cross the street. Chen Qing found it amusing and laughed uncontrollably.

But the more Chen Qing listened, the more she felt something was off. She knew her son very well and knew he wasn't the type to do such things. While Su Chen could possibly do something impressive that would shock everyone, Chen Qing was certain that helping old ladies cross the street was absolutely out of character for him.

Moreover, it struck her as odd how Long Qingya suddenly seemed so concerned about Su Chen. Considering the recent days when Su Chen suddenly seemed to turn over a new leaf, attracting the affection of many beautiful and highly competent women, Chen Qing wondered...

Chen Qing, sharp and astute, surmised that Long Qingya might have developed an interest in her son, Su Chen. Now, how was she to handle this? If it were indeed true, it would make future meetings awkward. Despite her inner turmoil, Chen Qing maintained a calm demeanor to avoid revealing her suspicions. She decided to observe Long Qingya closely to understand her thoughts towards Su Chen.

Expressing her gratitude, Chen Qing said, "This is all thanks to you. Without your influence, Su Chen wouldn't have changed so quickly. The credit truly goes to you, and I couldn't be happier."

Hearing Chen Qing's voice, Long Qingya was pleased, but then she was puzzled by Chen Qing's following statement about Su Chen no longer needing to stay and learn at that place, mentioning her own concerns and the responsibilities awaiting Su Chen. The idea of Su Chen leaving took Long Qingya aback, leaving her uncertain of what to say. How would they maintain the current situation if Su Chen were to leave? This could not happen.

As Long Qingya fell silent on the other end, Chen Qing figured she wasn't far off in her assumption. Long Qingya did indeed seem to have feelings for Su Chen. Then, in a slightly panicked tone, Long Qingya spoke up, "Chen Qing, I think Su Chen has just started to change. If he comes back now, it might not be good. He needs to stabilize first. It's no trouble for me to assist you."

Chen Qing internally smirked, thinking Long Qingya was quite transparent in her intentions. Yet, she considered the possibility that if Long Qingya, a woman of her caliber, took an interest in Su Chen, perhaps her son truly had some impressive qualities. Though unaware of what they might be, she was content knowing her son was capable. She responded without revealing her excitement, "I've been very concerned about Su Chen, but despite your assurances, I feel a bit guilty. You're still so young, and I don't want my son's issues to hold you back."

Agreeing with Chen Qing, Long Qingya felt genuinely touched, grateful for such a friend. Wanting to reciprocate the kindness, Long Qingya then unexpectedly suggested moving in with Su Chen to ensure his well-being, a remark that left her as stunned as it was uncharacteristic, turning her cheeks crimson with embarrassment. What on earth was she saying?

Now this was a predicament. Long Qingya panicked, worrying that Chen Qing might misconstrue her intentions as dishonorable. She was just about to explain herself properly when Chen Qing cut her off, accepting her offer and stating that Su Chen would surely agree as well. Chen Qing didn't wait to hear Long Qingya's thoughts, ending the call abruptly, leaving Long Qingya to deal with the proposal she had made. Chen Qing was internally pleased, even though Long Qingya detected a double meaning in her words, knowing her friend likely wanted grandchildren.

Long Qingya was taken aback, feeling like she had been duped. How had she ended up agreeing to cohabitate with Su Chen? It all seemed so absurd. She considered doubting Chen Qing, especially after hearing laughter just before the call ended, hinting that perhaps Chen Qing was amused by the situation.

On the other side, after hanging up, Chen Qing burst into laughter. She then pondered a serious issue: Su Chen already had several women around him, all quite exceptional. If Long Qingya joined them, wouldn't it create chaos? And what about Yang Yuxin?

Regretting the potential complications, Chen Qing decided to leave the problem for Su Chen to solve, looking forward to the day she could hold her grandchildren. Changing her perspective from an angry woman to a mother, she found the situation less egregious and possibly beneficial, expecting the women to curry favor with her.

So, Chen Qing resolved not to concern herself with the matter anymore. Satisfied with her decision, she considered finding even more suitors for Su Chen. The next morning, Su Chen rose early, ate breakfast, and decided to bask in the sun on the balcony. Enjoying the beautiful view, he felt content with his life, despite the irritation of having to attend a lengthy training program imposed by the officials.

Contemplating his dilemma, Su Chen felt caught in a loop, unable to escape without revealing his true capabilities. His frustration was interrupted by the sight of a woman, whose figure immediately drew his attention. Curious, he noted she seemed to have just moved in, carrying luggage. As a good neighbor, he felt it was his duty to offer help.

While he couldn't see her face, her figure suggested everything he needed to know. However, the more he watched, the more familiar she seemed. After a moment, it hit him – it was Long Qingya from the day before.

Long Qingya's behavior the previous day was puzzling to Su Chen. She insisted on tutoring him, leaning close and even getting touchy at times. Su Chen found it increasingly absurd as Long Qingya was known to dislike him, yet her actions didn't align with that sentiment. Su Chen wondered if her character was collapsing before the script even suggested she was the female lead.

As Su Chen watched the graceful figure below, he mused whether it could really be Long Qingya and what she could possibly want here. His phone suddenly rang, displaying his mother, Chen Qing's, name. Su Chen was confused about the timing of the call, especially as he glanced again at Long Qingya downstairs, sensing a conspiracy unfolding. Hesitating only briefly, he picked up the call.

"Su Chen, you need to make a good impression this time. I've sent Long Qingya over personally, so seize this opportunity," Chen Qing said before abruptly hanging up, leaving no room for a reply. Su Chen quickly surmised that his mother must have sent Long Qingya over, but for what purpose? He had a bad feeling.

Internally, he debated whether to stay composed if Long Qingya became overly familiar again. His thoughts were interrupted by an angry voice from below. Looking down, he saw Long Qingya gazing up at him, her face flushed with anger. Indeed, it was her.

Su Chen called out, questioning the necessity of her sudden decision to come over for tutoring during his rest time, which seemed unreasonable. Long Qingya looked back at him, and then, with a sly smile, she dropped a bombshell, revealing she wasn't just there to tutor him – she had come to move in, luggage in tow.

Su Chen was stunned, unable to comprehend the sudden turn of events. From tutoring to cohabitation, it all seemed too much. He asked if she was joking, but Long Qingya, slightly annoyed, insisted he address her more respectfully due to her friendship with his mother, and affirmed her intent to stay for teaching purposes.

Su Chen, still in disbelief, declared he wouldn't agree and reminded her his home was already full of women he had taken in. Long Qingya brushed off his concerns, suggesting that she, too, could be considered a woman without a home. Su Chen, flabbergasted, tried to dismiss it as a joke, but Long Qingya playfully left him guessing.

Exhaling deeply, Su Chen convinced himself that Long Qingya, a high-ranking official concerned with her image, wouldn't seriously consider such a move. He resolved to not let her in, regardless of her insistence.

Yet, Long Qingya felt insulted by Su Chen's silent thoughts. She took pride in being a beautiful woman who could make successful men do foolish things for her attention.

Now that she was taking the initiative to cohabit with Su Chen, he seemed very dissatisfied.

Long Qingya's pride surged within her at this. She wouldn't agree to anything. But with the current situation, she knew it was almost impossible for Su Chen to let her in. However, as an experienced veteran, Long Qingya quickly thought of a good plan.

She smiled and said, "Su Chen, I was just joking with you. I'm about to leave Beijing soon for a mission, and since I'm leaving tomorrow, I've already given up my place, so I have nowhere to stay tonight. I planned to stay at your place for one night, and I've already discussed it with your mom. You can't refuse."

Su Chen was a bit at a loss after hearing this. What, Long Qingya is leaving? He thought to himself that if she left, he would be even happier since there would be no one to nag him, and he certainly wouldn't attend that ridiculous training camp anymore.

Getting rid of Long Qingya was a great thing for him, and a happy one at that. He wouldn't have to keep up the hard work and could continue being the profligate young master he was known to be.

Yet, he reflected that Long Qingya was pretty good, and realizing that they were about to part ways made him somewhat sad. He wanted to leave her with a good last impression, to show her that it wasn't that he didn't want to learn, but that he already knew everything. So, Su Chen went downstairs himself to open the door for Long Qingya.

Following behind Su Chen, Long Qingya couldn't help feeling triumphant, thinking, "Just wait, little brat, I'll make sure you'll listen obediently."
