Chapter 3

EunJung pressed the number and waited for the person at the other end to receive whilst walking towards her destination.

"Hello?" The familiar voice rang through her ears.

"Hey, it's me. Are you free for the rest of the day." EunJung asked, shifting her weight from one foot to the other.

"Yeah. I don't have any plans. Why?" Curiosity was evident in the voice over the phone.

"Can I come over at your place?" EunJung bit her lip anxiously.

"Of course." With the confirmation, she ended the call.

A few minutes later she found herself in front of a familiar greyish-black coloured house. It's curves gave it a modern touch. The 1st floor had black tinted glass walls, with the balcony containing white tinted glass. Though it wasn't really different from any of the other houses surrounding it. It still stood out the most with its unique design.

EunJung rang the doorbell and waited patiently for the door to open. She heard rustling from the other side before the door opened revealing her one in a million best friend, Steve.

Before the boy could utter a greeting, EunJung wrapped her arms around him in a hug. Taken by surprise, his arms snaked around EunJung returning the hug and holding her protectively. EunJung, not being one to initiate physical contact having done so, caused uneasiness to settle within the pit of Steve's stomach.

"Eun, are you alright?" He asked EunJung, leading her inside the house. Whilst the said girl was still clinging to his side.

The familiar homey interior caused a sense of relief and safety to settle within EunJung. This place was like a second home for EunJung. Steve's parents worked late shifts so they were never really bothered whenever EunJung was over. His older sister, Ara used to babysit her too whenever EunJung's mother was busy. Steve's family had always been close with EunJung's little family hence the pair were technically childhood bestfriends.

The pair had made their way to the lounge and EunJung threw herself on the couch making herself comfy.

"EunJung?" Steve started not sure how to voice his worry. EunJung shifted in her place before heaving out a sigh.

Perhaps it won't be bad if at least someone knows about this, EunJung thought.

But I might seem dramatic, a second voice in her mind spoke.

Screw it. Steve would never judge me, She concluded.

"Let's watch a movie and I'll tell you what's going on." EunJung finally stated, and she did, once they had watched a couple of movies.

The brunette attempted to speak up in hopes of comforting EunJung at the end of her rant but EunJung didn't give him a chance assuring him that she was fine and just needed to clear her head whilst spending time with her best friend.

The brunette nodded and a mischievous smile spread across his lips.

"Since you're here it's payback time, Eun. You cheated in class today." The boy in front of her crossed his arms over his chest and pouted.

Instantly a smile spread across EunJung's face and she forgot about everything that had happened prior. She stuck out her tongue like a child and placed her hands on her hips sassily.

"You pushed me to it, Steve Hudson. You have no one to blame but yourself. You guys are beyond disgusting to even bet on something so stupid and I was barely an ear shot away so you should have been careful." EunJung grinned evilly.

"I just wanted to annoy Terry. Why'd you have to let him win!?" Steve argued, still pouting. A smile spread across EunJung's face at the cuteness of the boy in front of her

Steve grabbed one of the cushions and tossed it in EunJung's direction, earning a shriek as the soft object hit her face. The raven haired girl rolled her eyes at the kiddish behaviour and grabbed the same cushion but before she even drew her hand back to slam it on his face, Steve had run off the couch and into the direction of his room.

EunJung chased after him still holding the cushion drawn back so she could hit him as soon as she got close enough. Steve managed to retrieve a pillow from his own room and the next minute they were both having a massive pillow fight.

He used his pillow as a shield as EunJung attempted to hit him. She drew back her arms to gather force before pulling it in front of herself in order to hit him again but he took the chance and threw his pillow whilst EunJung's hands were still drawn back, making the girl huff in annoyance. A few strands of her short stray hair made its way to her face, slightly distracting her as she tried to fix it, but by then the brunette had got a hold of his pillow again and had hit her once again.

Half an hour later, once the two were done messing around. The pair were both giggling on the floor like five year old kids.

"It's getting really late. Wouldn't your mom be worried?" Steve said once he caught his breath and saw the time.

"Can I stay over?" EunJung asked bluntly, not wanting to face her mom or her so-called stepfather and stepbrothers. Even the mere thought was enough to dampen the mood.

"But wouldn't your mom be- oh." Taking note of the desperation spread across her features he cut himself off "Yeah, sure."

A knock on the door was heard and the two got up from their spot. Steve went ahead to unlock the door whilst EunJung decided to place the cushions, which were now littering the floor, back in their place.

The boy came back into the living room followed by his parents.

"Hello Mister and Misses Hudson." EunJung greeted them. They nodded in greeting with small smiles. Their eyes were heavy with tiredness.

"I haven't seen you in a long time, dear." Misses Hudson exclaimed.

"School hasn't been giving any free time." EunJung responded, earning a nod from the older woman. The two elders retired for the night after bidding goodnight, leaving the pair alone.
