"I thought I warned you and made it clear that I didn't want you anywhere near my brother," he moved closer, causing her to step back until her back was touching the wall.

"I... I did it because of my brother," Elizabeth retorted, feeling her heart rise in desperation. "I just want to know where my brother is and if he's alright."

"If you're having any sort of idea about Jack, you better disengage," Nicholas said dismissively, totally ignoring Elizabeth's last words.

"Hmm," he tapped a finger on his chin thoughtfully before meeting Elizabeth's teary eyes. "Did you happen to know Jack is engaged to General Richard's daughter, Arabella."

Elizabeth's brows furrowed in confusion. "But she's your fiancée, if I'm not mistaken, so how's that possible?" She was certain Arabella literally threatened to kill her because of Nicholas.
