The Wait (Chapter 9)

As the morning sunlight hit my face I woke up and rub my eyes. I looked at the clock in my room and I saw that it's 5:30 am.

I got out of the bed and put on a tracksuit to go for my morning jog. As I reached the front door I was greeted by Miyu.

"Ahh Young Master, good morning. You're already going for your daily jogging." Miyu said energetically.

"Yes, since it's always beneficial to keep your body fit at all times", I answered her question.

"I'm happy that my Young Master is actually putting in effort in something and not expect help from any of us. You're such a dependable Young Master. I hope you grow up into a fine man", Miyu said with the same tone.

Hearing that I nodded and left the house and went to the backyard. I'm lucky that the backyard is bigger than the Olympics track so I drew in the line with some help from Miyu.

After finishing my morning jog I went back to my room to make my bed and get prepared for the day.

After getting ready I went to my house library to find the continuation of 'Detective Kindaichi Kosuke: The Honjin Murders'. As I grabbed the book and put it into my sling back. After zipping it I returned it to my back.

I looked at the time and realised it's already 7 am. So I figured that this is a great time to leave so I grabbed my wallet and left for the train station.

Upon arriving there, I looked at the pocket watch decorated with a silver dragon that I got as I received the house which is probably an heirloom of the family. Bringing myself back to senses, I looked at the time.

'It's only 7:45 am?! I guess I can read my book that I brought', I thought as I looked at the empty bench nearby.

As I was reading the book, I heard crying noise that distracted me from concentrating my book. Felt curious I looked around.

After searching for a while I found the source of the noise. It was a small girl that doesn't look like a Japanese.

'A foreigner?', I thought as I walked towards her.

"Hello, are you lost?", I said in Japanese trying to confirm my thoughts.

"Sob...sob...I.....want...mother" she said.

I was a bit surprised upon realising that she just spoke Korean.

"Do you know what's her phone number is", I said in Korean as I squat down to meet her eye level.

She shook her head.

"Do you know what's her name is?", I asked slowly not to scare her.

She nods and said "Park Heejin"

"Let's go to the lost child centre to call out her name", I said as I extended my arm to her.

Feeling her small hand in mine I brought her to the lost child centre. Talking the receptionist, she said she'll immediately call her name out. She brought me to the mic too to say it in Korean just in case she doesn't understand Japanese.

After a while her mother came to pick her up. Her mother thanked me and even tried to give money.

"Oppa, what's your name?", the small girl asked.

"Seong Jae-Hyun, yours?" I asked curiously.

"Woo Eun-Sook. Can I see you again one day?" She asked as she came closer.

"Maybe. I hope I can see you after you grow up", I said enthusiastically.

Hearing that she leaps towards my arm and kiss me on my left cheek.

"Thank you for helping me, Oppa", she said as she hurriedly run behind her mother to hide her embarrassment.

As I saw both of them leaving and looked behind me and saw a familiar figure.

"How long have you been watching?", I asked curiously.

"Right after the mother arrives. Helping a stranger, I wonder why boyfriend is so nice?", she said playfully.

Well then let's go on with our date.
