Unexpected and unwanted

It has been a few months and I have settled into a steady routine, finally getting the hang of balancing things. Now I am stage manager of the school musical. I always felt at home and confident when I was working the stage like I am now. And with my experience it was only natural that I took on the role of stage manager so easily.

"Hi Beck, nice to see you. We have a half an hour to curtain. I'll be in the cast room if you need anything." Mrs. Simmons says as I take off my coat and hang it up. She's the director of the musical. I nod and make my way to the stage. I prefer to work on stage left so I walk across the bare stage and put my bag under my chair next to the curtain ropes. I drag a music stand in front of my chair and pull my binder out of my bag. I open it to the first page of the script and put it on the stand. Next I pull out a stand light and attach it to the stand.
