Chapter no 31: Who?

Taewoo entered Mark's office, where he was with his clients. Taewoo looked at Mark with desperate eyes and said, "If I'm not disturbing you, can you please spare some time for me? It's urgent." Mark excused himself from his clients, grabbed Taewoo from his elbow, and entered another room.

Mark confronted Taewoo ,"Mr. Detective, I'm not responsible to answer any of your questions. Can't you see that I'm busy with my clients?" Taewoo looked at Mark questioningly, "Don't tell me that it's okay for you that Chin is missing for a week now, and none of us know where she is. You told me you like Chin, but your attitude shows that she was a total stranger for you."

Mark looked Taewoo in the eyes, putting his hands in his front pockets, and replied, "As if she were here, what do you think she would be by my side? Never. So, I'm just thinking that she is with you instead of thinking that she is lost. It's almost the same for me. Liking a person doesn't mean the person should be in front of you. You want to search for her, then go and search for her. Why are you asking me?"

Taewoo grabbed Mark by his collar, "Is this a joke to you, or are you really with Devil right now?" Mark smirked, "I know so much about her that if I tell you, you are going to hate her. But since I truly like her and want you to find her, I'm not going to tell you about her past. Just think of my silence as a tip for you. But if you use violence, I'm not damn sure if I'm going to keep my mouth shut or not." Taewoo released his grip on Mark's collar.

"I just want to ask one last thing from you: Can you tell me about the location where she is being kept?" Mark laughed, "Do you think that I know anything about her? Devil has cut ties with me after he found that I was not interested in the map." Taewoo nodded, "Okay, then I think I'm alone in this war. I never needed you, but today I really felt helpless. So, I thought you might be the person who can help me. But remember, if you keep this silence when you know anything, it will be considered as a betrayal."

Mark looked into Taewoo's eyes, "You know what, Chin took everything from me, but still, I loved her. Love comes with scars. The person that gives you the most scar is the person you love the most. You think I'm happy that she is in danger, but you know I have just learned to live with the fact that she is gone. I will not advise you to do any of such things. Just keep on looking for her."

Meanwhile, Chin was trying to open the handcuffs when a man wearing a face mask entered the room, holding a tray with food just enough for survival for a day. He passed the tray in front of Chin, saying, "Eat this, or you are going to die. It's the fifth day you haven't eaten." Chin smirked, "Do you care about me? Does it really bother you that I'm not eating anything?" The man opened her handcuffs, "No, we are just ordered to bring you alive. That's the thing we are getting paid for."

Chin's eyes became teary, "You did this just for money? Or you always hated me?" The man looked a little scared but acted confident, "What do you mean by that? You act like you know me. I know the manipulating techniques of girls like you. You do such things to ask for favors." Chin wiped the blood from the corner of her forehead, "So, you really don't know me? Was that all just melodrama for you?" The man quickly rose, "Just eat this food quickly. I will come back in 10 minutes. If you don't eat, I will take the food away." Chin sat back in the corner, staring at the man with red eyes filled with tears.

After 10 minutes, the man entered the room again, holding a first aid box. He sat beside Chin, cleaned her wounds with cotton, and applied a bandaid. Chin kept sitting without moving, as if the pain in her heart was stronger than the pain of the wounds. Chin said, "Take away the food. I can survive without eating for a week. If I die, it will be better for me than feeling another betrayal." The man brought the tray of food towards her, "I know you have identified me, which is a kind of surprise. But since you know me, do a favor for me. Eat this food, not to live, but for me. I know I'm a bad person, but I can't leave you like this." He left the room again.

Chin looked at him leaving and then took out a mobile phone she had taken from the man's pocket while he was busy talking with her. She looked at the mobile screen, but there was a lock on the mobile. She put the mobile aside, then again held it in her hands, thinking, "It must be your birthday." As she entered the numbers on the mobile, it unlocked. Chin felt like someone was approaching the room, so she hid the phone under the food tray. The man entered the room again, "I think you are not done with the food, but I can't keep your hands untied for such a long time." Chin abruptly held his hand before he could reach near the tray, "I just want to eat. Give me 5 more minutes. I promise I will eat all this." The man looked at her, "It seems like you are very hungry. Okay, but no more than 5 minutes. I will come back." Chin quickly took the mobile phone out and dialed Taewoo's number. After a few rings, Taewoo picked up the call and responded, " who is there?" Chin quickly answered, "Taewoo, they are taking me to Korea. I don't know where I am right now, but they will take me to Korea in the next 2 days. But before that..." At that moment, someone snatched the phone from her hand, ending the call. "Girl, you think I'm mad."
