Mysterious Feeling

But of course, I couldn't do that.

There was nothing I could do about it.

I could only rant and rave.

Sigh!

Fine, I won't say anything.

I murmured in a light voice as I tiptoed, following behind the Wraith hounds who were making their way to my living room.

The Wraith hounds, upon reaching the living room and seeing their kind already feasting on a great meal, made some weird noises as they rushed to join in the feast that was going on.

Arriving at the living room, I was filled with surprise.

The Wraith hounds that were feasting on the huge zombie had already devoured its upper half in less than a minute, during which I had gone to close the door.

These Wraith hounds are indeed great gluttonous creatures, and what gave me the greatest fright was the way the Wraith hounds were decimating the zombie.

Using their elongated limbs and sinewy bodies, they made use of their feeble-looking dark hands as though they might drop at any time to feast on the inner organs and parts, and, most disgustingly, they drank the dark green blood of the zombie.

They did this with a relishing expression, as though they were feasting on a great meal or something.

Seeing such a scene, my disgust for them reached its limits.

I was practically at my limits in stopping myself from vomiting.

But I knew that I couldn't vomit because, with their sharp sense of smell, who could be certain that they wouldn't detect the smell?

And since I wasn't sure and didn't want to take any stupid risks, I decided not to take any chances.

Taking a forceful mouthful and a deep gulp of saliva, I forced myself not to vomit and made the vomit-inducing substances retreat to wherever they had come from.

After doing this, I was already at the peak level of tolerance.

I had to kill these 'cursed' creatures.

And since I have the stealth attributes, I should be able to kill them.

But the problem I faced now was the fact that they were in groups.

To have any chance of killing any of them, I would have to separate them from each other.

But how could I do that?

I thought as various thoughts of possible and optimal situations swirled through my mind.

But none seemed plausible, while some carried too much risk.

I surely wouldn't do them since I wasn't sure and didn't want to take any foolish, risky actions.

This wasn't a video game; my life was at stake at every turn, so I had to be careful in my actions and think of the best optimal solutions to survive in every situation I encountered.

I thought as I calmed myself down.

Comforting myself, "Aven, think faster, think better."

"I can do it, for even the world itself says, 'I am possible,'" I murmured. Just then, a deep resounding core resonated with me, leading me to suddenly recollect the behavioral traits displayed by the Wraith hounds.

From what I have noticed during the short moment of encounter with the Wraith hounds, I have discovered some behavioral and characteristic traits displayed by them, which include:

First of all, their love for food. They were basically gluttons and would devour almost anything with their mouths, be it food or even dead creatures. They would demolish everything with their mouths.

Another trait displayed by them was their scent attentiveness. They had a great sense of smell.

And last but not least, when it came to anything related to food, they became stupid and defenseless creatures. They were obsessed with feasting on foods. Food gluttons, great scent ability, and their obsession for food were their prominent traits.

With these three traits coming out in the open, a smile curled up on my lips.

"Don't you like food, food... Hmph, you will get to eat to your fill, but there is a saying: as birds die for food, men would also die for riches and wealth. And you guys are what they refer to as birds in this phrase," I thought as I put my plan into place.

"Food, no worries, that is something I certainly don't lack," I murmured as I laughed lightly in an inaudible voice, making my way to the food room.

I passed by the Wraith hounds as they continued with their feast, unaware of my passing by. But I didn't dare to attack them at this moment, for I knew that should one of them be killed, I would surely be exposed, which, although I wasn't sure of, was something I wanted to avoid.

So, of course, I will go for the simplest, most plausible, and optimal solution. I wouldn't kill Wraith hounds because they balanced the ecosystem. So what if they stopped the spread of infections and zombification? How does that affect me? I don't really care who will be zombified as long as the person doesn't have to do with me.

So why do I have to give up such a free and easy way to level up without any stress just to balance one foolish ecosystem? That is something meant for fools and righteous people. As for me, I can't call myself a bad person, and I also can't call myself a good person. All I know is that I will do anything to survive. And if that means that I should be cruel, then so be it.

I will make sure I become the cruelest to survive. So what if it will cost thousands of lives just for me to survive? Then yes, let their souls be harvested. For I shall make sure I survive till the very end.

I was filled with a kind of realization as I felt a huge burden that weighed me down dropping from my shoulders. I didn't know what had just happened to me, except for the strange mysterious feeling that was starting to rise from the deepest part of my heart.

I made my way to the food room.
