Abandoned?

"Yet, you come with me easily. As if you wanted to get sold to me. Hmm?" his fingers held one of her locks. He wrapped her hair around his fingers, as if testing their strength making sure if he could pull them from her scalp or not. And if he could, how much strength would it take.

"Yes, I did not want to live in that dark place. You were my only hope." he nodded slowly as if he could relate to it, surprising her. What did a lord like him know about the life of slaves? What made him think he could relate to her when he never faced any grievance in his life.

"But what made you think that I would be a better owner? Do you now know vampires hate witches and though you smell different, i am sure that you are a witch.'' There was conviction in his voice. As if he was not asking her but announcing it that she was a witch and he was going to prove it and then.. She would lose her life and her mission, a mission that could save her race, her people.

"I have never seen a witch to know I am one of them. What made you think that I am?" he did not pay attention to her question. His eyes raked over her fair skin. She was beautiful! More than that… she was breathtaking. A perfect figure chosen by enemies to lure him.

Did they think he was so weak when it comes to women that they chose to send a naive girl to lure him out. Ha! But.. he could entertain her to the limit she would fall in her own trap and lure his enemies out.

He smiled, seductive that he felt her suck in a deep breath. He could hear her erratic heart beat and the way she slowly shifted her weight from one foot to another to hide her discomfort but he could feel and see all of it and it gave him the confidence to take liberty with her.

"You mean you are an orphan. Grown on streets and lived alone and then one day, the ruffians found you, kidnapped you and sold you to earn some extra money?" cliche story he had heard more than a thousand times. But it was perfect to gain sympathy. Too bad, he did not have emotions in him to the level to show sympathy to a witch.

"No!" but the girl denied again. Proving again that was different. She was not a dumb witch who thought vampires could be bent and used.

"I have a loving father and kind sister. They took care of me but recently i got lost when we were traveling and now they are gone far away. They must be worried for me but I am not sure if I can ever find them again." She took a deep breath and he was sure there was raw pain in her eyes. One that comes from losing loved ones. He knew that well since he had faced it all his life.

She had lost her family. At least this part was true in her web of lies.

"What if I let you go? You can go and search for them." he offered, suddenly making her blink. Her downcasted eyes raised at once and stared at him as if contemplating if he was telling the truth or if it was a lie to test her desires.

"Why would you do that? I am sure you have paid a hefty sum for me." she tested, not showing her cards before knowing him when he shrugged and leaned on his seat.

The soft velvet dipped with his moment and his muscles flexed. She was sure they were strong just like thighs where she was hiding for so long. Was he not tried? She was sure she was heavy since she was not a kid anymore.

"I am in a generous mood and your honesty touched my heart. I want to earn some good deeds today so I will let you go." he explained with a chuckle when her eyes deepened.

He was in a good mood so he wanted to let her go! If only she had a place to go. But..

"Would you? I promise that I will pay you after finding a job." her eyes lit up making him chuckle.

"Of course" he knocked on the adjoining window getting the attention of the coachman. "Stop the carriage."

Bella waited as the carriage moved a bit more before stopping in front of a plaza.

"There is a market safe for young girls. I am sure you will find a job there. If you work hard, you can earn enough to settle or search for your family. You can always pay me later when you find them." such kind words.. If she had been a slave, this would have been the luckiest day of her life.

She had never heard a slave owner being so kind. Not to forget that he was a vampire. A blood demon who kills others for survival and enjoyment.

When the footman opened the door she had no choice but to walk out of the carriage with a heavy heart. But she forced a bright smile on her face.

"Thank you for your mercy, my lord. I will pay you back one day. Where will I come searching for you if I collect enough money?" she asked with a look of gratitude as she bowed her head again but she did not hear a reply.

After a pause, she raised her head only to see that the carriage and Rafael was.. Gone!

"Darn it! How in the world would I seduce him now?"
