Chapter 22

Elizabeth didn't have any appetite, but under Megan's urging, she drank the milk and ate a few mouthfuls of sandwich.

Seeing that Elizabeth couldn't eat anymore, Megan didn't force her.

After Megan tidied up, she came back and sat down.

"How are you feeling? Much better?"

"Yes."

Megan cleared her throat softly and said tentatively, "Shall we go back now?"

Elizabeth was speechless.

Megan held her hand and said firmly, "Let's go."

"Okay..."

Elizabeth was confused, as if she was trapped in a thick fog. She needed someone to push her, no matter which decision it was.

She got up and left with Megan.

When they went past a corner, Elizabeth heard a dispute.

"But Mom, I like him." The girl sounded sad.

"Shut up!" A woman's angry and mean voice responded, "What nonsense! What did I teach you before? He seduced you. Do you understand?"

"Mom..."
