Jerry's face went pale as he stared at Melody, his voice shaking with disbelief. "You want to go back to the United States with me just to go through the divorce procedures. It seems that you are determined to leave me."
It was clear that Melody had entered the marriage with a positive outlook, but now she felt that this union on paper would only hold her back.
As she looked into his eyes, Melody nodded thoughtfully and said, "Yes, I must leave you."
Before she turned to walk away, Melody added, "Jerry, I'm drawing a line between us. Don't try to contact me or my friends."
Jerry's frown deepened. He couldn't let her go so easily. Without thinking, he grabbed her arm and pulled her back toward him.
Melody stumbled backwards as a powerful force hit her, nearly knocking her off balance. She gritted her teeth, ready to retort, but Jerry cut her off before she could speak.
"Are you so cruel?" he demanded.
