Bian held two stones in his hands and used the Emperical Decree.
The orange stones were covered in an indigo film and turned to motes of light.
He couldn't tell if they were white light covered by the indigo film, giving it an indigo hue.
Or if the lights themselves were indigo in colour.
The stones changed to light and left his hands, colliding in front of him.
The two lights merged into one and faded away, leaving a new material in Bian's hand.
Thankfully, he used the Dongxuan Sutra to hide his presence, preventing the light from shining out.
He picked up the new substance that had been formed by the two stones.
It was slightly bigger than an average stone, and its colour had changed from orange to dark orange.
Its texture had also changed. It felt like a piece of wood, but it wasn't wood. It also felt like rock, but it wasn't rock.
Bian pinched it with all his might yet nothing happened. He picked up one of the three remaining normal stones and pinched it hard.
He left a slight indentation on a normal stone, and Bian confirmed that the new stone was tougher than the old one.
He used the Emperical Decree to fuse another two normal stones before fusing both enhanced stones together.
The new combination was even bigger, about twice the size of a normal stone.
It was a glistening black-orange in colour, and when Bian flicked it, a metallic sound rang out, accompanied by some pain in his finger.
"So tough, it's basically become a metal,"
He whispered in astonishment.
His Emperical Decree could actually fuse items together, and the result was greater than the sum of its parts.
Bian felt his heart skip a beat.
Could it also work on beast souls and geno cores?
He looked into his soul sea, where he currently had no demigod-level beast soul other than Tyrant, who was evolving.
He looked at the beast souls from the third sanctuary, particularly the Ink Sun Dragon and Radiant Reaper.
One was a small dark octopus, while the other was a big angler fish.
A berserk super creature and a normal super creature.
Bian was a bit doubtful, but he felt a reaction from his body, telling him it was possible.
As soon as he activated the Emperical Decree, both creatures turned to light and flew towards each other.
The two lights mixed into one and took shape soon after. A ripple was released across the surface of his soul sea.
A large ten-meter octopus was left in place of both. Its dark skin was riddled with pathways running like rivers, each of which was shining brilliant light.
Bian hurriedly brought up the information about the new creature.
[Type of Beast Soul of Ordinary Creature Ink Reaper: Weapon]
"What!"
Bian blurted out, causing the beasts sleeping by his side to stir.
He made sure they weren't getting up before turning his focus back to the information.
Both beast souls had fused to become a beast soul of the fourth rank, meaning they were now demigod-level beast souls.
He quickly checked his Soul Sea only to see the Ivory Serpent as the last remaining super beast soul. In fact, it was the last third sanctuary beast soul aside from the armour of the Azure Claw King, which he was wearing now.
'Damn it, if only I had known I would be able to fuse beast souls. I would have stocked up on tons of super beast souls.'
Bian bit his lip in frustration. He had an indescribable cheat power, yet he couldn't do anything with it.
'Can't cook without rice!' Bian sighed and took his mind off it since he couldn't do anything about the matter.
Sss!
He heard movement and looked up, watching the palm-sized spider scurry towards him.
Bian immediately put up his fists, warning the creature to stay away.
It seemed to understand his gesture and stopped moving.
Then the spider turned its head to face him, its eight eyes shining in the dark.
'Who are you? Where is Bat?' Bian heard a voice in his head.
He looked away from the spider's eyes and felt a subtle connection break. Then, when he looked into its eyes again, he felt the connection form.
'An interesting little creature. I don't know where Bat is. I found this place open and decided to sleep here.'
Bian said in his mind, sure that the spider could hear him. He was still a small fry here, so he couldn't openly admit to committing a felony.
The spider seemed uneasy and began looking at the door.
Bian snapped his fingers multiple times to gain its attention.
'Why are you looking for Bat?' he asked the creature.
If it was related to the Bat and began spreading stories, it could put him in trouble.
The spider stared at him hesitantly. It seemed to be deep in thought before it spoke.
'You're new here, so you haven't felt it yet. This place is draining our energy, so creatures need to sleep every night.'
'Okay, how does that relate to the Bat?' Bian asked.
'I can't make weaves without eating. Bat used to bring me food, but now...'
Bian looked away from the spider and thought about what it said. He couldn't feel anything off with his body, but when he checked the other creatures, he saw a very small amount of energy leaking out.
The quantity was so small, though, that Bian didn't take note of it until the spider mentioned it.
He couldn't even trace the direction the energy went, as it disappeared after leaving their bodies.
'Bat used to get food for the spider. Probably by using the syringe. It wouldn't do so without any benefits. I wonder what the little spider can offer.'
Bian had already killed the Bat, and the spider didn't pose much of a threat to him. He didn't have a current occupation in the shelter, so Bian decided to take a little risk.
He turned to face the spider and summoned the big syringe geno core of the spider. After he had killed it, he gained its geno core.
'Did the Bat use a syringe like this to get food for you?' Bian had a slight smile as he watched the spider.
The spider had a fright, jumping and moving away from Bian.
'Where did you get that?' it asked him in a trembling voice.
'This syringe flew towards me in the dark. I caught it, but it kept trembling in my hands. When it stopped moving, I suddenly gained ownership of it.'
Now that Bian had lied, whether the spider lived or died depended on its competence. Since it could communicate, Bian felt it shouldn't be stupid.
The spider obviously didn't believe his story, but it knew better than to retort. It relaxed and said,
'It's good that you have the syringe. My geno core can paralyse creatures, and stacked with their sleep, they wouldn't even notice if a syringe drained some of their blood.'
Bian approved of the spider. If it had just kept quiet, he would have definitely slain it. Instead, it explained its plans to Bian, tying them together.
As long as there were benefits to be made, it immediately forgot about the Bat and focused on the opportunity at hand.
Bian communicated with the spider some more. He learned that there were pipes that led to every tunnel, allowing the syringe and paralysis dart to enter any room.
The pipes were extremely hot, to the point that only Primitive creatures and above could move in them.
As luck would have it, though, creatures from the Primitive rank and above were too big to fit in the pipes.
Except for the sacred-blood Ruby Viper, no other creature could move through the pipes.
As long as they were careful, they could collect blood from all the creatures in the room, given they were all at the ordinary rank.
The Paralysis Dart geno core of the spider could only work on five targets per night.
The bat would then extract one full barrel from each creature, sharing it among the inhabitants of the room.
Sometimes, they gave the wolf two or three barrels to protect them, especially if their targets suspected the Bat of draining their blood.
'Such a dubious plan.' Bian was amazed he had gotten involved in such an act. The syringe was large, and one full barrel would definitely grant him an ordinary gene point.
Plus, since the Bat was dead and missing, they could just pretend to know nothing about it, sharing the profit between only him and the spider.
'I like the way you think. I'll leave one barrel for you, and I'll take four for myself,' Bian said magnanimously.
Spider: "..."
'No way, why don't you go rob the princess instead?'
How could it be cheated and only have one barrel?
Still, since Bian had killed the Bat, he was obviously very dangerous. The spider cautiously spoke.
'Brother, one barrel is not enough for me to both weave and refill the geno core. Can you spare me an extra barrel?'
'This... alright I can. But you have to weave me a garment in return.' Bian said.
The spider also agreed and the two reached a consensus.
