With the Emperical Aura active, Bian spied on Ash Princess. He watched as she prepared hundreds of pills, each containing the latent poison of the Ruby Viper, a sacred-blood creature.
Since the poisonous bead in his stomach did not dissolve, it was safe to assume that the Viper could control when its poison spread.
Once she shared all those pills, the entire shelter would be at her mercy.
Bian was too weak to do anything about her schemes. He also couldn't be bothered about it, his main focus was to get stronger as soon as possible.
It might not be possible for natives, but he was special. Less than two years in the third sanctuary, it would be a shame if he spent more time in the fourth.
Once he could leave this godforsaken area, his journey would skyrocket.
Emperical Will to gain beast souls and Emperical Decree to fuse them.
It would be equivalent to having endgame material as a beginner. As long as he didn't court death, what could stop him?
Bian focused on the shelter once again. A hundred thousand zombie creatures were moving about in all directions.
Their origins were unknown to most of the inhabitants here, and he couldn't start questioning the Ash Princess.
It wasn't a matter for him to deal with anyway. Once his fitness rose to a desirable degree, he would be able to use Terraslip better.
Then he could get away without worries about alerting the entire mob. The strongest of the tunneling creatures were mutant class, meaning he had a chance as long as he avoided them completely.
'What a blessing it is to have the Emperical Aura then.'
He had all the tools needed to escape, all he needed now was better fitness.
Preferably maxed out Ordinary Geno Points, so he could form his last geno core while he was at it.
The other animals in the shelter regained their composure after a while.
Unexplained and bizarre phenomena were nothing new in the sanctuaries after all.
Once everything was in order, Bian rested on the wall facing the door and went into a light sleep.
Hours passed by and the bright indigo light turned dim, barely providing visibility.
The animals moved back to their individual rooms, the spider included.
Once the room door opened with a large puff of steam, Bian woke up from his slumber, ready to make a big move tonight.
"I hope you weren't too bored while I was asleep?" Bian greeted Bao'er, who looked exhausted herself.
After placing her to sleep, he finally turned to face the spider.
'I hope you didn't exhaust all your energy? Cause I have big plans for tonight.'
With the mental link of the spider, he communicated with it. They were going to usurp some blood, but this time Bian would be in charge.
The spider wondered why he wanted to lead, but it dampened its curiosity once he mentioned giving it as many barrels of blood as it wanted tonight.
'Use your dart to follow the syringe precisely.'
Bian instructed the spider and sent the Blood Syringe up the tube. The Paralysis Dart followed closely behind it.
The spider had acute control of its geno core, it could feel the heat and keep its dart centered, which was no easy task in the jungle of pipes.
While its method was commendable, Bian's way was much more efficient.
Since he could 'see' with the Emperical Aura, he navigated the syringe with extreme ease around the pipes.
In under five minutes, they had reached another room.
Now came the tricky part.
The body's response to stimuli was greatly reduced while sleeping.
Predators sleep deeply because they are less vulnerable.
Prey sleep lightly because survival depends on staying alert.
If he avoided insects and strange creatures without blood, he could target five prey, using the paralysis dart to put them to sleep.
Firstly, he guided the dart and instructed the spider to paralyze a rabbit creature.
Paralysis plus sleep meant that even if the rabbit knew something was amiss, it couldn't move and all would seem like a dream by the time it wakes up.
He guided the syringe back and drank the first barrel himself.
Rinse and repeat.
He used the paralysis dart to target four other light-sleeping creatures. Consuming three more barrels and giving one to the spider.
Bian had already decided to give it blood from creatures that were too large and wouldn't net him a geno point once consumed.
Once all five uses of the paralysis dart were used up, Bian navigated the pipes solo with his syringe.
The first creature he targeted was like a crocodile, but without hind legs.
It was surrounded by weaker creatures and slept without much worry since the room could only be opened from the inside.
Humans didn't feel mosquito bites while deep asleep. What of predators, who had higher pain tolerance?
The thin edge of the syringe pierced into the abdomen of the creature.
Bian held his breath as the creature perked lightly. Luckily, it didn't react more than that.
There was no need to go in too deep. He extracted blood from it in a rhythmic manner, going along with its breathing.
In minutes, he had filled the syringe with blood. He retreated slowly and sent the syringe back into the vents.
After a few moments of waiting, the syringe came back into the room, filled with blood.
"It worked." Bian let out a breath of relief.
He managed to take some blood even without the paralysis dart.
The spider was surely in shock, but Bian paid it no mind. He swallowed the iron-tasting blood from the syringe and used the blood-refine sutra to assimilate it into his body.
[Flesh Of Swamp Devil eaten. One Ordinary Geno Point gained.]
Barely two hours had passed since the shelter transitioned to night. He had purposely paralyzed prey first, to give the other animals time to enter into a deep sleep.
He sent the syringe into the tube again.
With the aid of the Emperical Aura, nothing could escape Bian's gaze.
He avoided rooms with any creature still awake and only targeted those deep sleepers.
A lot of Primitive and even Mutant creatures were wide open, but the syringe couldn't pierce their flesh. Or at least not without alerting them.
He had to target Ordinary creatures. Any predator that was bigger than an elephant, and Bian would give its blood to the spider.
There were over four hundred ordinary creatures present, so Bian had more than enough targets to drain blood from. The only thing he lacked was time.
...
By the time morning came, Bian brought back the syringe after the last extraction.
Three claw marks marred the surface of the syringe, as the last creature woke up and attacked the syringe with a claw geno core.
Bian placed the needle into his mouth, he was already sick of the metallic taste of blood, but such was the price to pay for strength.
The spider was surrounded in a cocoon at the corner of the room. After drinking a dozen barrels of blood, it suddenly went into a pupa state.
With a loud sigh, Bian pushed the blood into his mouth and refined it into his system.
[Flesh Of Archaic Tarus eaten. One Ordinary Geno Point gained.]
[Geno Points: 48 Ordinary Geno Points]
They had taken blood from close to fifty creatures last night. His Ordinary Geno Points had skyrocketed from 13 to 48 in a single night.
"If we can do this three~ no, two more times. I can max out my Ordinary Geno Points." Bian muttered, feeling very tired.
Then he suddenly frowned.
The last creature he had attacked, that had woken up, was causing a commotion outside.
It was actually pointing to the creatures he attacked and showing them the red spot from where the syringe injected them.
Sure enough, the commotion was large enough to garner the attention of Ash Princess, who began ordering all creatures to leave the room.
The Red-furred Cheetah went door to door, forcing every creature out of their room.
Bian had to reluctantly deactivate the Emperical Aura at this point.
Staying awake all night had no effect on him, but keeping it active really drained his energy.
"They can't find the blood syringe on me and also won't be able to find the bat. But the spider is evolving, it's going to draw far too much attention to us."
Bian thought of an excuse for why the spider was evolving and picked up Bao'er, opening the door before the Red-furred Cheetah could.
