Chapter 6

Elijah

I was the last one to get into the car as per usual. My silence usually was why I put myself at their backs. Some things no matter the situation cannot change. It was bone-deep. All three of us were seated in the back of the car. Mia was the one making conversation like she usually does. Levi is a bit out of his depth given the fact he is the one who threatens usually, but he can't do that here for the obvious reasons.

However, it seemed like Mia wasn't up to her usual antics. She was silent, probably because of the awkward tension between us and our grandparents. It was their fault as well as ours. Olivia basically implied that Mom lied to them about being rejected and that she was wrong to run away. I can't stand it when people lie, but Levi shouldn't have gone off at them. Sometimes, the best reaction is no reaction

Mia attempted to break the said tension by starting a conversation, "So how do the meetings usually go?"

Frank answers stiffly, "The Alphas come out and the representatives of each pack under Blood Moon control come out and summarize what has happened on their territory. There is then some questions which can be answered. It is over quite quickly actually."

Olivia added, "The Alphas mostly stand there looking scary. I mean even before the disappearance of their mate they were cold, but now it is like they have no emotions."

I grind my teeth at the implied insult at mom. Back home, mom always told us that her mom and dad were always very distant and they never talked. So, our grandparents have no right to judge mom. Of course, I didn't say this at loud. That would be hypocritical with what I thought about Levi 's previous behavior. I kept it hidden. No one spoke for the rest of the car ride. I think it's just as well. Unless we are putting up a facade, Mia and Levi have a tendency to be more violent and blunt. Good qualities on occasion, but they got me into more problems than I ever wished to be in. Mostly Mia had a mouth that could snap out come-backs like you couldn't believe. One time, our witches gave us a potion to hide our scents when we went into "claimed" territory as humans. We ran into the Alpha of the place and Mia challenged him basically. He couldn't properly answer it because he thought we were humans, but I could tell that he really wanted us dead. Werewolves have a tendency to take disrespect badly, especially the Alphas and such.

I turned my thoughts to something more productive like our sperm donors. I hate the fact that we had to go to our deadbeat fathers for help. I didn't like having to depend on someone else, but I understood the reasoning even though most of the Miller Organization would give their lives for Mom. It was mostly because she had dealt with being rejected by acting as a Luna to them. The Miller Organization was a place to join to avoid becoming crazy like most rogues due. All supernatural are creatures that need a group, a place to belong. All of our people were each rejected by their own, so they came to us. We gave ourselves the task of taking down Hunters and helping people. Therefore helping us deal with being official rogues. But the fact that Mateo and Chris didn't think we could take on this particular sect of Hunters. . .

That is worrisome. I was distracted from my thoughts by my dearest sister who was busy stating the obvious, "We are here."

Levi bit back, "No shit, Sherlock."

"What does that make you, my Watson?" retorted Mia. This was a usual argument between them. I chuckled, if those two could still argue, maybe things will be okay. I zone them out as they repeat the same argument. Mia always wins these one way or another. It's scary how she is. Again, her future mate is going to have an interesting time keeping up with her. Maybe she will mellow with age.

As they bicker, we enter the house and I shoot them a look for them to shut up. They understand and do as instructed. They weren't stupid and we didn't need any extra attention that their talking would bring. We walk alongside Olivia and Frank into the wolf's den. I breathe in the different scents that populate the pack house. I find Amelia's scent first. Olivia had pointed out some of Amelia's favorite objects to touch when she comes to visit and I was able to get her scent out of them. As for our fathers, their scent was painfully obvious all over the place. Mom had shared their scent with us in case we ever needed to find them. She had been slightly paranoid, but is it paranoia if someone is actually out to get you?

We try our best to blend in with the surrounding wolves, no need to alert people of our existence. Olivia had us mix our scents with theirs, so we smelled like their pack too. Our group made it to the auditorium or meeting room without incident. The room itself opened outside to be able to fit so many people. I listened into other people's conversations. The people here weren't everyone who belonged to the Blood Moon pack, just everyone who was within two hours drive from here. It's scary how quiet people were the moment that everyone entered the room. It seemed like the Alphas had iron control over them through fear. That's not exactly how I would lead a pack or how Mom leads the Miller Organization, but I won't judge, not out loud at least. Somethings are best kept to yourself. We sat in silence with everyone else until a couple minutes later when the twin Alphas enter the room. If I thought that the silence before was strange, this is downright freezing. I could hear a pin drop. The Alphas ooze threat and are the definition of cold. I am not getting the warm and friendly vibe from them as I do from some Alphas. The two of them do not talk or address anyone as they make their way to their seats, not even a general greeting. If they had looked up at the crowd, they might have seen three identical stares of hate staring at them with their same eyes. Their attitude just reinforced my hate for them. If they help us with the Hunters and mom, the moment she is free we are going to France. There is no fucking way I am leaving her with these two emotionless Alphas. Mom was warm until she was mad, but she deserved better. I take note of the fact that their Beta is not present and neither is the Beta female, Amelia. It must be because she is pregnant, I could tell from her scent when I got a whiff of it earlier. Her mate would be crazy protective and would not let her in the sight of so many unmated male wolves. I know I wouldn't with my future mate. I would give her as much freedom as she wants, but I would want her to be safer and away from threats. There would have to be a compromise that all mated couples achieve

Meanwhile, I am staring at our so-called fathers and feel the need to kill them. I would if their deaths would have killed Mom. They never properly rejected her. The only way to do that is to go in front of the Alpha King who can break the bond. The one who wants to reject their mate has to give good reasons and the Alpha King would give permission or no. The only way a wolf would die from rejection would be because they didn't get fully rejected. The bond would be basically dead, but alive just enough to hurt their wolves. The moment that those two pricks sit down, the first of the werewolves representing a part of their pack starts making their speeches. It was boring as hell. The Blood Moon pack had taken over five other packs and absorbed them into theirs. I know for a fact they had murdered at least five others. They do not attack innocents, but that is their only rule. There are six subdivisions to their pack and there. I zone out each of them until the Crescent pack's report comes up. I sit up and make an effort to pay attention to what he says. After all, that's where we were and they might report us. The last thing we want is to get put in prison, again.

The werewolf reports, "We have a matter of urgency. Today, we had three wolves come unto our territory during a chase with Hunters. They claim that their mother was taken and refused to say more on the subject-"

Twin one, Alpha Logan, rouses himself enough to ask, "Where are they?"

The leader man continues, "These three escaped sir, but not before asking a local pack member about Olivia Miller and her parents. The search for them continues, but we assure you that they are still on our territory. They would never have made it past the border." In one bound, the twins were pinning the speaker against the wall and threatened him, "Find out more!" It must be a usual occurrence because no one in their pack batted an eye. The speaker man anxiously nodded his head and was released. He backed away from the twins slowly and everyone returned to their seat.

That was interesting! It seems that the twins know that Olivia Miller was their mate which is strange because Mom said she never told them her name. Maybe she did and doesn't remember according the story she was pretty drunk. Mom only told us about our fathers when we turned 12 because we shifted into our wolves so early. That's how we figured out that our fathers were Alphas. The speaker for another subdivision stood up. He had spoken before so it was obviously a question. This man seemed to speak for the other subdivisions too when he said, "The other representatives and I have had a question to ask of you for a while, Alphas. It is about our future Luna-" The twins growled at the comment and it made me a little happier but not much. "-Here me out please Alphas! It has been a long time since your mate's untimely disappearance, it is safe to assume her dead. To survive, the Blood Moon pack needs a Luna."

I was shaking in anger at the idea of someone replacing our mother. I understand that we do not want Mom to come here, but to see them dismissing our Mother makes me want to kill them. The worst part is that the twins were actually considering it. I knew that Levi was just as angry as I was. If they kept at this topic, Levi and I might just shift in anger. Despite this, we kept our cool. I mean we had to, it wasn't the time to get caught

However, Mia stood with her hood still on and yelled, "Cowards! Rejecting your mate and then pretending she has just disappeared! You have no right to her for your shameful attitude. No other she-wolf could even hold a light to your now ex-mate!" Apparently, Mia has lost her cool. For a second, everyone froze and then all hell broke loose.
