I directed my question to Jaxson, but it was Adan who answered. "We split into groups and track down scents. It's part of training. My group lost the scent and--"
"Someone would have died if it were real." Jaxson cut in, finishing Adan's sentence.
Adan's eyes held all the anger I'm sure was raging through him. As an Alpha, risking people's lives wasn't acceptable; they would do anything to protect their pack from harm. "Well next time, you'll know not to make the same mistake, won't you?" I gave him a small smile, hoping he would calm down enough to stop entertaining the idea of tearing Jaxson's head off.
His face cracked into a smile. "It won't be the first mistake I'm trying to make up for, but it'll be the easiest." The fact I knew he was referring to us had me laughing and receiving looks of utter confusion.
