Chapter 5 A Househusband

The Lexington Group. Bob Miller's office.

After listening to the whole story told by Rosemary, Chris said apologetically to her, "Mrs. Garcia, I'm sorry to make you suffer. I'm here to apologize to you on behalf of the Lexington Group."

Before Rosemary could say anything, Charles crossed his legs and cut in, "Mr. Jones, you shouldn't apologize, right?"

Chris was Bob 's confidant.

In the company, except for Bob, only Chris knew the true identity of Charles.

Now, all the branches in the three states in the East belong to Charles. To put it bluntly, Charles is the boss, and Chris works for him.

"Mr. Garcia is right!" Chris turned his eyes to Emma and Peter, and said sharply to the two, "Apologize to Mrs Garcia soon."

Peter was worried that his actions would anger Bob Miller and his position would not be guaranteed, so he bent down at a 90-degree angle and sincerely apologized to Rosemary, saying, "Mrs Garcia, I'm sorry for being too ignorant to recognize you. I apologize to you!"

Seeing Emma staring at Rosemary unwillingly, Chris didn't know the relationship between the two. He urged Emma, "Emma, it's your turn!"

It was not easy for Emma to jump from a small company to the famous Lexington Group. With the welfare and treatment of the Lexington Group, it was not a dream to get millions of annual salary. Even if she was terribly unwilling, she had to yield to Rosemary.

"Rosemary, I'm sorry. It's my fault. I didn't know the situation clearly and spoke to you in a heavy tone. Please don't take it to heart."

Rosemary didn't want to make trouble. She was Emma's classmate and didn't want to ruin their relationship. She smiled and said, "Emma, I accept your apology. I hope we can have a pleasant cooperation in the future." Then she reached out her hand to Emma.

Emma nodded and shook hands with Rosemary.

She glanced at Charles, who was sitting on the sofa. Coincidentally, Charles looked at her sharply. Somehow, Emma suddenly found that Rosemary's useless husband had changed. The look in Charles's eyes became so terrible that she felt like falling into an ice cellar and her body couldn't help trembling.

"Peter, I officially declare that you are fired by the company. You can go to the personnel department to terminate the contract."

Peter looked terrified. "Chris, please don't fire me. I know I was wrong and I have apologized to Mrs Garcia."

"Do you want me to call the security?"

Peter knew what kind of person Chris was. As long as he said one more word, the security guards would come to the office immediately. He walked out of the office like a defeated cock.

"You can go out to work too. I'll sign the contract with Mrs Garcia. Remember, from now on, the company's leaflets, slogans, outdoor advertising design will be handed over to B&C Packing Design Company."

"Okay, Mr. Jones!"

Emma left with her slender legs and high heels clattering.

Charles had planned to ask Chris to fire Emma as well, but he didn't force his wife, standing out for the sake of the company's business and being polite to her.

He had made up his mind that if Emma dared to bully his wife, he would fire her.

After successfully signing the contract with the Lexington Group, Rosemary pointed at the name of the company on the contract and asked, "Chris, something is wrong here. Why Party A is the Sun Group instead of the Lexington Group?"

"Oh, here's the thing. The Lexington Group has changed its name. It will be called the Sun Group. There is notes on the contract and it has legal effect."

Rosemary felt relieved after reading the contract. "Aren't the Lexington Group one of the top 100 enterprises in the country? Why did you suddenly change its name?"

"The Lexington Group 's industries in the three states in the East will be officially separated from its parent company from now on and will be operated separately."

"I see."

Rosemary frowned and nobody knows what she was thinking.

Charles was worried that Rosemary might find something wrong, so he said, "Rosemary, you can go back first. I have to send Mr. Miller home after that."

Bob Miller chuckled and said, "let's go together. Chris is in charge of the company, so I don't need to work. You drive me home first, and then drive your wife home."

Charles knew what Bob Miller was thinking, so he nodded and said, "okay".

On the way to Bob’s home, as expected, Rosemary said to Bob Miller, "Mr. Miller, thank you for giving Charles ten years' salary in advance. If you hadn't lent us the money to solve the pressing problem, we wouldn't have known how to raise money."

"Hahahh, everything can be solved with money. Mrs Garcia, your husband is a good man. He has signed a contract of ten years with me for you. This young man is kind and righteous. It's rare!"

Rosemary and Charles had been married for several years, and it was the first time that someone praised her husband. She was so happy.

She glanced at Charles, who was driving, and said indifferently, "Mr. Miller, you don't know. My husband didn't want to make progress before, so he didn't go to work all day long. He was willing to take care of his child at home and be a househusband."

"Mrs Garcia, don't say that. Everyone has self-esteem. If you say your husband has no desire to make progress, it mean he is loser in your eyes. He naturally has emotional resistance. Men are born to be strong. Sometimes, if you are gentle to them, they may change dramatically."

Rosemary wanted to say that her husband was a good for nothing. It could be seen that Bob Miller had been supporting Charles all the time. She said, "Mr. Miller, don't put in a good word for him. If you don't take him in, I'm afraid he won't be able to find a job."

Charles turned around and said, "Who said that? I can drive, so I won’t not be hungry to death, will I?"

"You are not starved to death, but lazy to death!"

Rosemary's words amused Bob Miller.

After driving Bob Miller to his residence, he asked Charles to drive Rosemary home. He also said that Charles could put the car at his home, so it was convenient for Charles to pick him up.

Bob Miller's Rolls-Royce was so ostentatious that wherever he drove, it would be the focus of attention. Anyway, Bob Miller had a lot of luxury cars under his name, so Charles suggested to change another one. Finally, he chose a Volkswagen.

This car was low-key and luxurious. It was definitely the ideal car for Charles.

Charles likes cars, so he knows a lot about it.

Rosemary didn't know that the car he chose was so expensive.

On the way back, Rosemary asked Charles doubtfully, "Charles, why is Mr. Miller so good to you?"

Charles had already thought about his words. If he told her that he applied to be Bob’s driver, she would definitely not believe it. Therefore, in private, Bob and he had already thought up of a story. While driving, Charles said without looking back, "I saved Mr. Miller's life."

"You saved Mr. Miller?" Rosemary cried out in surprise and asked, "when?"

"I always hang out with Dave. When I met a group of robbers who wanted to kidnap Mr. Miller, I saved him with Dave. At that time, I didn't know that the old man was Bob Miller, the richest man in New York. He gave me a business card and asked me to find him in the future if I need anything. You know what happened later!" He was referring to borrowing money from Bob Miller.

Hearing Charles's words, Rosemary was dubious.

If Charles had saved Bob Miller, why hadn't he told her about it before; But if Charles didn't save Bob Miller, how could this old man lend them one million dollars even though he was rich?

What confused Rosemary more was that although Charles was Bob Miller's driver, he seemed to be more arrogant than Bob Miller.

Rosemary said to Charles, "For your good performance this time, I will cook some good dishes tonight. After you drive me home, go to the kindergarten and pick up Betty early!"

Charles said happily, "Okay, I'll buy some wine by the way. And, honey, we haven't drunk together for a long time."
