She could just feel Dane’s simmering anger, and Jiro’s. Or was that hers? Lilia’s emotions seemed more on the fearful side, but weren’t fear and anger connected?
Dane’s voice rang throughout the hall, filling the room. “So be it. Both of you are committed now. The time and place are to be determined later. Jiro?”
Jiro tapped his fingers on his magical tablet. “The challenge was rushed. The actual contest can’t be.”
Marcus lifted a questioning brow. “Kyon’s brother overseeing the rules?”
Jiro stalked over and gave Marcus a serious, professor-like look. “I am very fair. If you would prefer someone else …”
Marcus flushed. “No, no.”
Azandra smiled. Jiro was well known for being a walking rule book.
Jiro lectured him. “It would dishonor our pack if I were inclined to favor my brother. If this challenge were YOUR idea and you chose a member of your family …”
