“Yes, Peyton?” I ask to be polite, but I would rather not be. I would like to get back to work. My manners force me to stay and endure further conversation. 


“I’ve been thinking about our last date,” Peyton says and I get confused. I thought I had handled everything with her so I’m not sure what would warrant this conversation. 


“Peyton,” I try to stop her but she keeps talking.


“You sir, never called me back,” Peyton points out, teasing me but she also looks annoyed at the rejection. “We had a lovely evening and at the end of the night, you promised you would give me a call to set up another date.”


“I’m sorry about that, Peyton. I did reach out to let you know that I’ve just been so busy with everything going on, and haven’t had time for anything aside from work,” I start to explain and gesture to the house as an example.
