Chapter 7 Nathaniel Hanson, you're really ruthless

International supermodel, she hadn't thought that far. She was simply focused on her present situation...

And making Nathaniel Hanson and Arianne Chadwick pay the price.

At noon, on the eve of Sonora's meeting, Nathaniel, who hadn't had a meal with her for a long time, surprisingly took her to the western restaurant downstairs and reserved a surprise candlelight lunch. Looking at the interplay of red roses and candlelight, Monica calmly took her seat at the table with Nathaniel's help.

"I've ordered your favorite sirloin steak..."

Monica was taken aback, fell silent. It turns out Nathaniel, after almost five years with her, couldn't even remember her preferences.

"What, you don't like it?"

Monica was about to speak when a tall western chef in a white uniform appeared with a tray in front of them and said to Monica, "Miss Baldwin, we have your favorite Filet Mignon steak today. On behalf of Delphi Western Restaurant, we wish you a happy marriage…"

Nathaniel's face fell at these words. But there was nothing he could do, so he awkwardly switched Monica's food tray, "Have your tastes changed?"

"Thank you, but we're not married yet!" Monica ignored Nathaniel and explained to the chef. "But it's thoughtful of you to remember after I've just mentioned it once."

After the chef courteously left, Monica returned her gaze to the table.

"Next time I'll make sure to remember...what my wife likes!" Nathaniel said as if to remind himself.

"Let's eat, we have to review the script later." Monica sneered inwardly, her face maintaining its usual expression. However, during this moment, she received a text message from an unknown number, 0819; it was from Victor.

And 0819 indicated the day they got married.

"The steak was my treat, and the chef's sentiment... was to congratulate our marriage!"

Monica chuckled, then discreetly replied under the table, "How did you know where I am?"

"If I want to know, I can." Victor replied in his usual calm manner.

Monica held her phone and glanced around, but she didn't see Victor anywhere. Although she didn't understand how he managed to send her this heartfelt gift, Monica could feel his presence...

His presence was majestic, impossible to ignore and difficult to resist.

"Monica, what are you looking at?" Nathaniel asked, his amber eyes full of curiosity as he reached out to disrupt her line of sight.

"Nothing..." Monica shook her head and redirected the conversation calmly, "Nathaniel, when will we register to get married?"

"Once this storm has passed. You know, Arianne is up for the 'Top Ten Models of the Year'. This is her golden opportunity. Monica, I'm grateful to have you. Without you... Arianne might have fallen apart this time." Nathaniel poured Monica some red wine and raised his glass to her.

"You'll pay for this double-fold." Monica laughed softly, her slight dimples made her look even more attractive.

Yet, Nathaniel was oblivious. His senses were numbed by Arianne's whispers in his ears over the years. He failed to pick up the underlying meaning in Monica's words.

"Monica, you've been wronged..."

Monica realized that this was a meager consolation for the blame she was about to shoulder, and yet, it was laced with poison.

"Also, after the press conference, get in touch with your agent Meghan. It seems the only way to deal with people like her is through the legal route."

"Sure." Monica's laughter resembled the sweetness of a spring.

But taking on Meghan? That was impossible!

At 2:30 pm, Sonora's main hall was already filled with media representatives. They were all intrigued by Monica's public statement.

Whether it was the abrupt retirement of the once famous model, her decision to sign with Sonora, or her decision to walk the runway on Arianne's behalf; to the media, they were all puzzles. Furthermore, she had kept a low profile after her retirement, making it extremely difficult for them to dig up any dirt.

And now was the perfect opportunity—

At three o'clock, Monica, dressed in her modest attire, appeared under the protection of her bodyguards. She slowly moved up the stairs, then elegantly turned around and faced the media. Reporters began asking questions fervently.

"Monica, you're still ranked first on the online hot search list, does this mean you've been manipulating the rankings?"

"Monica, both you and Arianne are models for Sonora, but Arianne has been the one receiving most of the work for the past few years. Are you unhappy about Arianne's popularity?"

"Monica, are you creating a publicity stunt?"

Faced with the sudden chaos, the company's team immediately stepped in to maintain order and finally gave Monica a chance to speak.

"Firstly, I want to apologize to the public for the damage I've caused to the company's reputation, and for the speculation around Miss Arianne."

"The HF Crown Star runway show was my own idea. I acted without the company and Miss Arianne knowing. Everything was unrelated to my company, Sonora, and Miss Arianne."

"I... indeed planned to use this for publicity! However, my agent was unaware of all this. I used her and I will bear all the consequences. Thank you all for your supervision. Thank you."

Monica's statement left the entire hall in shock...

Name-calling flooded the internet as Monica was the only one to admit it directly. The public could easily see the superficial aspect of it and was furious. Even within Ocean Entertainment Group, this event was discussed as a joke.

After Victor finished his meeting and heard the commotion, he turned his head in confusion to look at his assistant. His assistant then whispered Monica's press conference situation to him, "Mr. President, should we take action to help Miss Baldwin?"

"Not for now, let's see how she tackles this." Victor softly responded. He had already stated his curiosity earlier. He had intervened in the previous two occasions. This time, he decided to see what Monica was truly capable of.

Would his wife, Monica, truly fall to such manipulative tactics?
