His Highness’ Educational Evaluation: Navigating Numbers and Novelties

The Grand Duke ordered the Silver Hawks to put the fire out once it was done, to prevent scattering the fire in the forest. He turned to his heels and walked back to where the hideout was. There, he saw Arama with flowers in his hands. He knew exactly what those are for.

"Arama, what was his name?" Asked the Grand Duke.

"He's Estelle." Arama replied as his cat-ears flattened as his tail curled up to his side, "Estelle is a good friend of mine, though he was quiet. It was unfortunate that he was the scientist's favorite, so they mercilessly do bad things to him."

The Grand Duke's heart ached at Arama's words, knowing that Estelle had suffered unimaginable horrors at the hands of the sadistic scientist. He extended a gloved hand to Arama, offering his support and understanding.

"Estelle deserved better," the Grand Duke said with a somber tone, "No one should ever endure such cruelty. We'll ensure that his memory lives on through the justice we bring to those responsible for his suffering."

"Do you have an idea where we should bury Estelle?" He asked.

"Estelle loved the riverbank, he said to me once that he wanted to be there by the riverbank, it gives him comfort." Arama explained, "I think Estelle would love to be buried in the riverbank."

The Grand Duke nodded in understanding. He knew that granting Estelle's final wish by burying him by the riverbank would be a fitting tribute to the young hybrid who had suffered so much.

"Then that's where we shall lay him to rest," the Grand Duke said softly. "Let's prepare a proper burial by the riverbank, a place where Estelle can find the peace and comfort he deserves."

The Grand Duke signaled the Silver Hawks and obeyed. With a shared sense of purpose, they set to work, carefully selecting a serene spot by the river where the soft murmur of the water would provide eternal solace for Estelle's troubled soul. The Silver Hawks dug a shallow grave together, their actions infused with a sense of reverence for the fallen hybrid.

As they lowered Estelle's lifeless form into the earth, they offered their final farewells and whispered promises of justice for him and all the others who had suffered. Arama's gray eyes glistened with a mixture of sorrow and determination. He gently placed the flowers on the ground, a silent tribute to his fallen friend.

After the burial, The Grand Duke ordered to count the hybrids before they depart in the depth of the forest, as they get ready to get back in the heart of Feigan where the large tent stands out to treat the people infected with the plague.

The Silver Hawks diligently counted the rescued hybrids, making sure that none were left behind. As they gathered them together, Arama helped in calming their fears and ensuring that they felt safe in the presence of their rescuers.

The Grand Duke stood at the forefront, his gaze sweeping over the group of hybrids, a mixture of relief and determination in his eyes. He knew that their work was far from over, but today had marked a significant step towards justice and freedom for these innocent beings.

"Is everyone accounted for?" the Grand Duke asked, his voice carrying a note of concern.

One of the Silver Hawks stepped forward and replied, "Yes, Your Majesty. All the rescued hybrids are here and seem to be in relatively stable condition. We'll make sure they receive proper care and attention once we return to the heart of Feigan."

The Grand Duke nodded, his heart heavy with the knowledge of the suffering these hybrids had endured, "Let's head back," he said, "We have much to do, but we'll ensure that each one of you is taken care of and given a chance at a better life."

With that, they began their journey back to the heart of Feigan, carrying with them not only the rescued hybrids but also the hope of a brighter future for all those who had suffered at the hands of cruelty and injustice.

They started to march, each Silver Hawk's steed has two of the hybrids, one from their back and one from their front. The hybrid's are obviously not used to riding a steed, so they clutched hard to the Silver Hawk in front of them. The hybrids are rather quiet, but some started talking to the Silver Hawks as the Grand Duke and Arama overheard them.

As the group continued their march, a curious hybrid riding with a Silver Hawk turned to their companion and asked in a hushed tone, "Hey sir, do you think these flying steeds are like big, feathery fish?"

The Silver Hawk couldn't help but chuckle under their mask, "Well," they replied with mock seriousness, "I suppose if fish had wings and flew through the air, then maybe they would be like these steeds."

The first hybrid nodded thoughtfully, "I wonder if they taste like fish too," they mused, earning another stifled laugh from the Silver Hawk.

Arama, who had been riding beside the Grand Duke, couldn't contain his amusement and leaned over to whisper to the Grand Duke, "It seems they're quite curious about the Silver Hawks and their steeds."

The Grand Duke showed a faint smile and replied in a low voice, "It's good to see them finding a bit of humor and comfort in this situation. They've been through so much."

As they continued their journey, the hybrids and Silver Hawks exchanged more light-hearted banter, providing a brief respite from the heavy burdens they carried. It was a small but welcome reminder that even in the darkest of times, laughter and camaraderie could still shine through.

It was the hybrid's first time to get out of the area except the riverbank, so every place of the forest was unfamiliar for them.

As the group continued their journey through the forest, the hybrids couldn't contain their wonder and excitement at the new sights around them. They pointed and gasped at the towering trees, the dappled sunlight streaming through the leaves, and the colorful birds that flitted through the branches.

One particularly curious hybrid, a young girl with a half-bird heritage, chirped in delight as she spotted a squirrel darting up a tree trunk, "Look at that little one go! It's like a furry acrobat!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide with wonder.

Another hybrid, a boy with the lower body of a deer, knelt down to examine a patch of wildflowers. He gently touched one of the blooms and marveled at its delicate petals, "These flowers are so pretty.." he whispered, his voice filled with awe.

The Silver Hawks, riding alongside their newfound friends, couldn't help but smile at the hybrids' innocent fascination with the forest. The Grand Duke and Arama, too, found the hybrids' reactions endearing.

Arama leaned over to the Grand Duke and whispered, "They're like children discovering the world for the first time. It's heartwarming."

The Grand Duke nodded in agreement, his lavender eyes reflecting the joy of the moment, "Indeed, Arama. It's a reminder that even in the face of darkness, there can be moments of pure and simple beauty."

Arama's tail swished as he felt happy, "My lord, I don't know how to pay you, but, I'm really grateful that you saved my friends." he said, "But, how are we supposed to live if the scientists are gone?"

The Grand Duke smiled warmly at Arama's gratitude, his gloved hand gently resting on the hybrid's shoulder, "Arama, your well-being and that of your friends are my utmost priority," he reassured, "We will establish a safe haven for you and the other hybrids, a place where you can live freely and without fear. The Landroich Bureau for Natural Resources and Hybrids will ensure your protection and provide you with opportunities to thrive."

Arama's eyes lit up with hope, and he nodded in gratitude, "Thank you, My lord. We never thought we'd have a chance at a better life."

The Grand Duke patted Arama's shoulder affectionately, "You deserve nothing less, my friend. We'll make sure that your future is filled with opportunities, not hardships."

Not long enough, they arrived at the heart of Feigan, the sight made the Grand Duke's eyes widen a bit, the sight is more clean and proper, there are a few tents nearby, as if a plague never started first of all.

The Grand Duke firstly dismounted Amias and walked to the tent, he lifted up the tent as he was greeted by a frontliner, "Your Grace, welcome back."

The Grand Duke acknowledged the frontliner's greeting with a nod, "Thank you," he replied, "Prepare the medical team and inform them that we have injured and traumatized hybrids in need of immediate care."

The frontliner saluted and quickly went to relay the message. As the Grand Duke entered the medical tent, he was greeted by the bustling activity of healers and medics, their dedication evident in their tireless efforts to tend to the injured.

Arama and the other hybrids were carefully escorted to areas where they could receive medical attention and support for their emotional well-being. The Grand Duke watched over them, ensuring that they were in good hands and would receive the care they deserved.

"Where's the Marquis Maximino?" The Grand Duke asked a Silver Hawk on standby.

The Silver Hawk politely replied, "Marquis left Feigan, according to Marquis, he was being summoned in the manor in an urgent matter. However, he told me to pass these words: The Marquis had long since sent out scientists that he trusted and made a vaccine and cure for the plague, now that they're arrived, they'll be distributed right after the hybrids settled in here." The Silver Hawk paused, then continued, "The Marquis also said that he wanted to apologize to Arama."

The Grand Duke listened carefully to the Silver Hawk's report. It was a relief to hear that Matthew had taken swift action to address the plague situation and provide a cure. The Grand Duke nodded in understanding.

"Thank you for conveying the message," he replied to the Silver Hawk. "Make sure to inform Arama and his friends about the Marquis's intentions. Let them know that they will be safe here and that we are committed to their well-being."

The Silver Hawk saluted and went off to fulfill his orders, leaving the Grand Duke with a sense of gratitude for the support and resources that were being mobilized to aid those affected by the crisis.

The Grand Duke also stepped out and went to his personal tent, he quickly undressed his stained top and tossed it aside with his disgusted expression, he couldn't believe that he walked around with a blood-stained blouse in Feigan, at most, it smells.

He wanted to bathe.

Luckily enough, before they got in the heart of Feigan, The Grand Duke saw a small lake across the heart of Feigan, it was clean and crystal clear. And so, he grabbed his towel, body and hair soaps.

The Grand Duke made his way to the pristine lake, surrounded by the serene beauty of nature. The cool breeze rustled the leaves of the trees, creating a soothing atmosphere. With the clear water shimmering under the sunlight, it was a perfect spot for a much-needed bath.

He placed his belongings at the edge of the lake, keeping them within reach. Then, he began to undress, his movements precise and graceful. As he stepped into the water, a shiver ran down his spine, the initial contact with the cool liquid sending a pleasant chill through his body.

The Grand Duke, his slender yet well-muscled body on full display, stepped into the clear lake further to dip his whole body. His raven-black hair clung to his strong features, water droplets running down his fit chest and toned abs. Each muscle was well-defined, highlighted by the play of sunlight on his smooth skin while his earrings shone as the sunlight reflected against it.

His movements were graceful and fluid as he immersed himself in the refreshing water as he poured himself some water. Every motion, from the subtle arch of his back to the slow sweep of his hand over his body, exuded an alluring charm.

The Grand Duke took his time to cleanse himself thoroughly, letting the clear water wash away the remnants of the day's events. He scrubbed away the dirt and grime, his eyes gazing out at the tranquil surroundings. It was a rare moment of peace amidst the chaos of recent events.

His lavender eyes, framed by long, dark lashes, possessed a magnetic quality that drew you in, promising secrets and pleasures untold. The way he lingered in the water, his lean limbs stretching and moving with ease, left a lasting impression of sensuality.

As he emerged from the lake, water droplets clung to his sculpted physique, emphasizing his natural grace and magnetic appeal, he sighed as he dried himself off with the towel, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Dressed in fresh attire, he embodied a captivating blend of power and allure that was impossible to ignore.

The Grand Duke wasn't just a ruler; he was a living embodiment of desire, a vision of eroticism that lingered in the minds of all who beheld him.

———

On the same day in Handun Broch, Elias and Ezra entered the dame with nervousness. As soon as Elias and Ezra entered the room, they were met with the sound of children's chatter and playful chiding. The classroom was filled with young students, most of them around the age of 8 to 10. Some of the students were already seated at their desks, working on various assignments, while others were still making their way to their seats.

Elias and Ezra took a moment to observe their surroundings. They noticed that most of the children were much younger than them and felt a twinge of nervousness. Despite their nerves, they made their way to their assigned table and took a seat.

Soon as the bell clanged, a teacher came in and greeted them. She was no commoner obviously, she was a noblewoman under the work of being a teacher in dame, she firstly introduced herself, "Hello kids, My name is Sussanah Somerset. Today, we'll introduce ourselves one by one to get to know each other!" Sussanah announced cheerfully.

The children eagerly responded with a collective "Hello, Miss Somerset!" Their youthful enthusiasm was evident, and they sat up straighter in their seats, ready to participate in the introductions.

Sussanah pointed to the nearest student, a young boy with freckles on his cheeks and a gap-toothed smile, "Why don't we start with you, dear? Tell us your name and something interesting about yourself."

The boy beamed and said, "My name is Timmy Hall, and I can touch my nose with my tongue!" He demonstrated his unique talent, causing a ripple of laughter and amazement among the students.

Sussanah nodded approvingly, "Very impressive, Timmy! Who's next?"

One by one, the children took their turns introducing themselves. They shared their names and quirky facts, from Lucy Moore, who claimed to have a pet frog named Sir Hops-a-Lot, to Benny Thompson, who proudly announced that he could burp the alphabet (to a mix of giggles and groans).

Finally, it was Ezra's turn. She stood up, her usually confident demeanor momentarily replaced by a touch of shyness. Clearing her throat, she began, "Um, hi, I'm Ezra Baker." She paused, trying to think of something interesting to say.

The room was filled with expectant silence until Ezra blurted out, "I once tried to ride a goat like a horse, but it didn't go so well. I fell off!"

The classroom erupted into laughter, and even Miss Somerset couldn't help but chuckle. Ezra blushed but joined in the laughter herself, realizing that sometimes the funniest stories were the ones that involved a little mishap.

As the introductions continued, Elias couldn't help but grin at Ezra's charmingly awkward moment. It seemed that this new adventure in Handun Broch would be filled with unexpected surprises and plenty of laughter.

Elias cackled, "Ezra, that's so lame.."

Ezra mock-glared at Elias, her eyes twinkling with mischief, "Well, excuse me, Mr. Hilarious," she retorted, "not all of us can burp the alphabet like Benny."

Elias chuckled, shaking his head, "Fair point, fair point," he admitted, "But at least your goat-riding adventure is a story to remember."

Ezra rolled her eyes and sat on her seat. Next was Elias who was called next.

As Elias stood up to introduce himself, he couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious after witnessing Ezra's unique introduction. He cleared his throat and began, "Hello, everyone. I'm Elias Acker, and, well, I don't have any fancy pets or tricks to share." He paused for a moment, feeling the weight of all eyes on him, "I come from a family of glover, and I guess you could say I'm pretty good at, um, making gloves."

There was a polite smattering of applause, and a few of the students nodded in acknowledgment. Elias couldn't help but feel that his introduction was a bit ordinary compared to Ezra's, but he shrugged it off and returned to his seat. It was all in good fun, and he was looking forward to getting to know his new classmates better.

"Very well, Mr. Acker," Ms. Somerset remarked, "Now that we're done introducing ourselves, Ms. Somerset needs to evaluate the advanced kids by testing who could already read, can some of the students can already read, please raise their hands."

As she asked, it was only Ezra and Elias who raised their hands.

Ms. Somerset nodded and faced the board, she pulled a chalk at her drawer and started to write on the board. Her strokes are steady and proper, readable even.

She turned around and pointed to the board behind her, "Mr. Acker and Ms. Baker, please read the following."

What was written from the board was: 'Education is the beacon that lights our way through the darkness, the wind beneath our wings, and the key to a future filled with promise.'

Ezra and Elias exchanged a quick glance, a mixture of surprise and determination in their eyes. They had both raised their hands confidently, and now they had to prove that they were advanced students.

Ezra leaned forward, squinting at the chalkboard. She took a deep breath and began to read the sentence slowly but clearly, "Education... is the beacon... that lights our way through the darkness, the wind beneath our wings, and the key to a future filled with promise."

Elias followed suit, reading with equal care, "Education is the beacon that lights our way through the darkness, the wind beneath our wings, and the key to a future filled with promise."

Ms. Somerset nodded approvingly, impressed with their reading skills. "Very good, Mr. Acker and Ms. Baker. It seems we have two talented readers in our midst."

The other students clapped politely, and Ezra and Elias exchanged proud smiles. They may have different ways of introducing themselves, but one thing was clear: they were both eager learners, ready to embark on their educational journey together in Handun Broch.

Ms. Somerset smiled proudly as she spoke, "Now that you two were obviously advanced, I need yet another one to make sure that you two were meant to be put in the academy." she paused, "Could you two tell me some basic numbers, counting exercises and simple arithmetic concepts?"

..what are those.. Ezra gulped.

Ezra felt her heart race as Ms. Somerset's request hung in the air. Basic numbers, counting, and arithmetic concepts? She had never learned those before. She exchanged a worried glance with Elias, who shared her apprehension. Elias already did some advance reading from the borrowed books from the public library, he'd nagged about it for Ezra but Ezra never did so.

Ms. Somerset's smile remained warm, but there was an expectation in her eyes. The room was silent, and the other students watched eagerly, their curious eyes fixed on Ezra and Elias.

Feeling the pressure mounting, Elias decided to take the lead. He cleared his throat and stammered, "Um, well, one plus one is... two?"

Ms. Somerset nodded encouragingly, "That's correct, Mr. Acker. Can you go on?"

Ezra felt the weight of the moment pressing down on her. She took a deep breath and hesitantly added, "Two plus two is... four?"

The room seemed to hold its breath as Ms. Somerset evaluated their answers. Ezra and Elias exchanged a hopeful look, praying that they had given the right responses.

After a few moments, she finally spoke, "Mr. Acker and Ms. Baker, please write the equations on the blackboard."

Elias's heart raced as he rose from his chair and made his way to the front of the room. He reached for the chalk, his hands shaking.

What the hell?!
