Guided by a Glow (79)

The next two days passed in a blur of activity. Between school and spending time with Aeron and Violet, the hours slipped by effortlessly. Without Becka's antics stirring up trouble, the atmosphere was refreshingly peaceful. Daniel and Starfania got even closer after that whole fight scene. As he started opening up a bit about his personal life. Even coming to her when he was struggling with his own problems. But today was different. Today marked the moment. Starfania would finally come face-to-face with the dragons. A mix of anticipation and nervousness coursed through her. Finally, the bell rang, releasing them in the warm embrace of adventure. Aeron and Starfania dashed down the hallway, their laughter echoing around them as they raced towards the exit.

They had made plans to spend the evening at Aeron's house, and to her surprise, her dad didn't object when she told him. They spent a delightful day outdoors with Drogo, basking in the warmth of the sun and each other's company. Aeron took the lead in teaching his younger sister proper care for Drogo, using a patient and encouraging tone. Drogo, clearly in his element, relished every bit of affection lavished upon him. Watching Aeron and his sister bond made Starfania's heart warm, their laughter and shared moments painting a beautiful picture. As they approached Starfania, Drogo rested his hand on her laps, his serene demeanor tranquil energy of the day. Together, they enjoyed the quiet joy for the moment, lingering until the sky transformed into a breathtaking canvas.

Only the light of the molten lava was still keeping everything bright in this wasteland. They had decided to camp out in Aeron's backyard, embracing the simplicity. Starfania stoked the fire gently, her face lit by the dancing flames. The night was quite saved for the crackle of burning wood. Aeron and Violet leaned closer, anticipation glowing in their eyes.

" There's an old legend my mother used to tell me, " Starfania said, her voice soft but compelling. " Long before the Vulcan Fire Kingdom was forged, there was a warrior known as the Emberborn Knight. His name has been lost in time, but his deeds are whispered in the embers of every fire. "

Aeron's curiosity piqued, and he shifted slightly, leaning in further.

"What kind of deeds?" he asked, his tone eager. Violet found herself mesmerized, the flickering flames mirroring the excitement in the air. Starfania took a breath, gathering her thoughts, her gaze drifting to the horizon where the glow of the lava met the night sky.

"They say he was a guardian of the flames," she continued, her voice gaining strength. "He defended the innocent and fought against the shadows that sought to extinguish the light. Each battle he faced forged his spirit stronger, his heart ablaze with courage."

The trio sat in rapt attention, the world around them fading as Starfania wove her tale. "But one day, a great darkness emerged—a creature born from despair that hungered for the warmth of hope. The Emberborn Knight stood his ground, facing the beast with nothing but his sword and an unyielding spirit."

Violet shivered, not from the cold, but from the intensity of the story.

"Did he win?" she whispered, barely able to contain her hope. Starfania nodded slowly, her eyes glinting with the firelight. "In a fierce battle that shook the very earth, the knight prevailed. His sacrifice breathed life into the flames that burned in every hearth, ensuring that light would never fade completely."

Aeron looked at the fire, imagining the struggle depicted in Starfania's words. "And what happened to him?"

"Legend says he became one with the fire, forever watching over those who would tell his story. In every flicker, we feel his spirit," Starfania replied, a smile breaking through her serious face. The fire crackled louder as if responding to the tale, and for a moment, they all felt a connection to something greater. The night felt alive, wrapping them in warmth and wonder.
