Chapter 72: Ya Lin Xi

The fiery chains snaked towards Galuo like they had a mind of their own.

Galuo had an expectant smile like everything was within his control.

With a thought, light Qi formed in the path of the chains in a bid to disintegrate them.

The Vermillion Branding Chains forged through the dense light Qi and continued slithering towards Galuo like hungry snakes.

The light Qi was unable to stop them.

"What…!?" Galuo was stunned as he controlled light Qi to form in the path of the chains.

However, the chains did not disintegrate.

Panic and fear shot through Galuo as he suddenly remembered a certain memory: "The Vermillion Bird Race!"

The knowledge did not help him as the Vermillion Branding Chains struck him, sinking through his scales and entering his body.

The crimson Vermillion True Flame ignited all over his body as he screamed. His scream etched fear in the hearts of the rest.

"What is this fire?" Julie was puzzled but she ignored the question in her heart.

She and the others knew that Lu Zheng's flame had incapacitated Galuo but as the flames flickered on his body, they noticed that it would not last long.

Lu Zheng was the first to leave.

Grabbing Olina by the hand, he executed a strange footwork.

Within moments, their bodies were a blur in the distant horizon.

Julie and Jason did not spend the next moment idle too.

Galuo's screaming came to an end after a few breaths of time.

His green body was completely covered in soot. His green hair was singed black.

"Vermillion Bird Race…!" Galuo's expression was unsightly. Releasing his Sea of Consciousness, he flew in a certain direction.

…..

Lu Zheng flew rapidly with Olina before he suddenly collapsed mid-air.

His body would have created a huge crater if Olina had not caught him.

"What is the matter?" Olina's expression was full of concern.

"Food… beast meat… bloodline…" Lu Zheng managed to force some words out of his mouth before his eyes rolled into his head.

A few chunks of White Striped Tiger meat lay beside him from his spatial ring.

"Lu Zheng…" Olina muttered.

…..

Lu Zheng stood in a large field of verdant grass.

The air smelled like grass and flowers. It was clearly spring.

He could hear faint sounds of fighting and soon, he found himself walking towards the source.

Two men were fully engrossed in fighting that they didn't seem to notice Lu Zheng standing a few feet from them.

"Mortals" The word formed in Lu Zheng's head.

The two men before him were clearly mortals without a single drop of Qi in their meridians.

A wave of déjà vu shook Lu Zheng and he slowly understood; he had been here before.

He called out to the men but they didn't seem to be able to hear him. Instinctively, he reached out to call one of them.

"Don't" A woman said.

Lu Zheng turned and regarded this woman.

She was slender and had long limbs. Her hair was maple brown and reached all the way to her feet. Her chin was pointed and she bore a warm smile. Her green eyes seemed to hold the mysteries of the world.

Lu Zheng felt like he had seen her somewhere before but he couldn't remember. Instead, he walked away from the fighting men.

The woman walked away and Lu Zheng followed her at a distance. After a long distance, he managed to ask: "Who are you?"

The lithe woman turned and faced Lu Zheng, smiling warmly she answered: "Ya Lin Xi"

With that, Lu Zheng woke up with a start.

"You're awake" Olina smiled.

A hearth crackled right in front of her with which she roasted meat.

"Hungry?"

"Hmm" Lu Zheng nodded and received a chunk of meat from Olina.

Immediately, he sunk his teeth into the meat and ate it. With each bite, a large amount of energy flowed into Lu Zheng's body but that only made him hungrier.

Within moments, Lu Zheng had eaten meat equivalent to a large cow but he was still hungry.

Olina was stunned by this. After all, the meat was from a rank eight beast. A few bites were enough to quench her appetite although she hadn't eaten in months.

Yet Lu Zheng had eaten a full cow's size worth of rank eight beast meat.

"It is only natural" Olina shrugged. "You just expended a large amount of bloodline power. You need the energy"

"Hmm" Lu Zheng only nodded. He was thinking of the dream he just had.

He did not know where the dream was situated nor did he know the two men that were fighting.

However, the name Ya Lin Xi was one very dear to him. He wondered why she had appeared in his dream.

After all, Ya Lin Xi was his spouse in his previous lifetime as Xue Ritian.
