Chapter 124: Backstabbing

Cedric flew out of the pagoda as his body began to increase in size.

By the time he was right before Houyan Meili, he was already a hundred metres long purple lizard. Azure flames of the Deep Blue Sea Flame burnt all over his body.

"Cedric, surrender the Deep Sea Blue Flame to me and I'll let you live" Houyan Meili's tone was cold.

Cedric paid no attention to Houyan Meili's words as balls of azure flames flew towards her.

His tone was sarcastic as he laughed: "Sure, here is the Deep Blue Sea Flame. Please take it from me. Hahaha"

Houyan Meili shrugged as pink Vermillion True Flame engulfed her body. Three small pink birds formed before her and flew swiftly towards Cedric's colossal body.

The small birds exploded the moment they came in contact with Cedric.

"Argh!" Cedric screamed in pain. "Curse you Houyan Meili!"

His tail swept towards Houyan Meili and slapped her away like a fly. Her lithe body tore through the air before she regained her composure mid-fall.

"Hmph!" Houyan Meili used many Spirit Grade pills to recover her expended Essence [1].

Fire Essence poured from her meridians like a river as Flame Balls struck towards Cedric.

His body was extremely large and it made it hard for him to dodge the Flame Balls. He shrieked more in pain as his body turned black from char.

Houyan Meili moved forward to attack Cedric as a sanguine sword pierced her heart from the back.

Blood and Spirit Grade pills escaped her mouth as she stared at the sanguine sword that protruded from her chest.

For most races, the heart was the most vital organ and the Vermillion Bird Race was no exception.

Naturally, Houyan Meili's regenerative abilities would have healed the wound but the sword was still lodged in her heart.

Furthermore, the sanguine sword had unbelievably high melting point that even the Vermillion True Flame could not even char it.

Houyan Meili turned her head with great difficulty to see the attacker.

It was a human male dressed in black robes. He had a fair complexion and his pupils were a bloody red. He had silvery white hair that stopped at his waist and a uniquely handsome face that could make hearts skip a beat.

His lips curled upwards into an enchanting smile but Houyan Meili could not be enchanted, she was already dying.

The sanguine sword drank her blood greedily as her complexion paled.

Vermillion Birds had blood levels far greater than that of humans in both quantity and quality yet, the sanguine sword had made Houyan Meili turn pale within seconds.

Houyan Meili's beautiful skin slowly began to turn into wisp of crimson pink flames till she eventually burnt out.

The silver haired man stored the flames into a ceramic vase before storing it in his spatial ring.

Forty metres away, Houyan Meili reappeared once more but this time, she was in her birthday suit.

Her lithe body was covered by a very thin membrane that did little to protect her shame.

Lu Zheng who was bullying Domain Formation realm martial practitioners had a nosebleed when he looked up.

"Hmph!" Houyan Meili snorted angrily as strong crimson and pink Vermillion True Flames bathed her, covering her nudity from others.

The silver haired man had a cruel smile on his face: "Vermillion Bird, today is not the day I kill you, I only came to retrieve some important things"

At a wave of his hand, the formation churned as the corpses of the Flood Lizards was ground into a bloody paste.

Lu Zheng instantly spatial skipped far above the ground as he watched the bloody paste turn into fifteen black crystalline objects that rose from the ground.

None of the Flood Lizards survived, other than Cedric.

As the crystalline objects rose towards the man, three coincidentally passed before Lu Zheng who stored them in his spatial ring unhesitantly.

The man had a wronged expression as he shook his head, storing the remaining twelve: "Friend, know that I'll retrieve the Life Blood Crystals at an opportune time"

With those words, he turned towards Cedric and tore open a spatial passage: "Let's go"

"Hmm, Lin Feng" Cedric nodded and left through the spatial passage with Lin Feng.

The formation churned again as ambient Qi thinned out. Lu Zheng's expression turned grave as he quickly flew towards Houyan Meili.

Embracing her warmly, drops of Vermillion Blood emanated from him before turning into a large blood cocoon that enveloped the two of them.

"Boom!"

The entire Bei Sect erupted in an intense explosion that obliterated everything around it.

The formation was destroyed and the explosion was visible in plain sight.

It was doubtful if anyone could survive it.
