Chapter 157: Undercurrents

News spread through Western Plains swiftly: "Chang Court has been annihilated!"

"Devil Lord Edu Shashou has returned from seclusion!"

The many forces of Western Plains were stunned to their cores.

Chang Court was one of the strongest forces in the world and at their commands, blood could spill and heads could turn. Just the one Immortal they had made them a huge threat.

Hearing that Devil Lord Edu Shashou was even involved even made the news sour to hear.

Misconception even spread that Devil Lord Edu Shashou had caused the Blades of Annihilation to appear singlehandedly. The stories varied and nobody truly knew the truth.

However, one thing that could not be denied was that Devil Lord Edu Shashou had returned and that spelt doom for the enemies of the Devil race. It was only natural for him to exact revenge on his enemies.

As time progressed, the situation in Western Plains would only worsen as conflicts intensify.

Meanwhile, in a random and obscure building sat a stalwart man with short red hair and a cross shaped scar on his cheek. His hands and legs seemed too big for his body and his menacing gaze only made him look scarier.

Before him laid an unconscious Lu Zheng.

His gaze was eerie as he scrutinized Lu Zheng, his red pupils glimmering in the dark.

After a moment, blood seeped from his eyes, forcing him to back away from Lu Zheng.

"It is truly useless. The strong flames of the Sea of Nirvana protect his soul from any external interference"

Just as Lin Feng healed himself, Lu Zheng stirred before opening his eyes. As he lifted himself to sit up, he felt like thousands of needles were piercing him all over.

He felt extremely weak and could barely move his limbs. Even his bloodline power was at the lowest possible level.

~So this is the backlash from unleashing one's latent potential for long periods~

"You're finally awake" Lin Feng smiled, bringing Lu Zheng out of his reverie.

"Huh?!" Lu Zheng was shocked. He hadn't noticed the man beside him until he had spoken.

Lu Zheng was sure that if the man had malicious intentions, he might've died without even knowing how.

A grim smile formed on Lu Zheng's lips as he faced the man. In his current condition, he could not even walk properly not to mention putting up a fight.

Moreover, Lu Zheng had sensed something peculiar from the man beside him. He was a changeling.

"Who are you?" Lu Zheng asked as he stared at the man. His Qi concentrated on his fingers and at the first sign of trouble, he would tear open a spatial passage and escape.

"No need to get your guard up. I am Bai Wumian" Lin Feng lied with a straight face.

"Hmm, Lu Zheng" Lu Zheng said weakly as he swallowed a Spirit Grade pill from his spatial ring.

The pill melted instantly in his mouth as vitality coursed through his veins. Even his cheeks turned rosy from the influx of strong vitality.

Even so, Lu Zheng knew he was far from being able to fight. His bloodline power was extremely low at the moment that he could barely move his body. It took him all of his willpower to maintain his consciousness.

"I won't say much. I was ordered to pass these things to you" Lin Feng smiled as he willed out three artifacts from his spatial ring before handing them over to Lu Zheng.

One was an emerald gem the size of an adult's fist. The gem radiated a sense of coolness that made him feel calm. Lu Zheng could even feel his thoughts move faster.

The second artifact was an information path artifact for storing information and the third was a storage artifact.

Just as Lu Zheng was about to ask for their origin, Lin Feng quickly spoke: "Senior First"

"Oh" Lu Zheng quickly understood.

"There is also this…" Lin Feng's voice trailed off as he revealed a small vial.

As soon as he brought out the vial, the ambient Qi churned violently as an unbelievable aura swept through the room.

The aura had a sense of omnipotence, forcing all who bore its brunt to bow and worship it.

Lu Zheng instantly recognised the aura. It was the aura of the Vermillion Bird Race!

"Houyan Meili…" Lu Zheng's voice was cold as he stared at the vial. Inside it danced a small pink flame.
