Chapter 291: Recovering Human Qi

Standing just a hundred metres from where the black smoke initially was, the ten members of the Changshou Tong Race watched it shatter apart into a dense void of nothingness.

"What just happened? Did it fail?" A man by the name Hiroki asked as his fore-eye opened.

Makato opened his fore-eye and used his Togan to inspect the void which was rapidly clearing away.

"No, it was successful"

Aimi revealed her purple fore-eye and the second ring in it turned. Matter began to form before her.

It was her bloodline ability – Spatial Transfer.

Aimi used her methods and a small heart appeared before her.

Makato moved his hands and the Spectral Spark Flame of the Changshou Tong Race took ablaze on the heart, burning it.

In a short period of time, the heart began to throb like it was alive.

Without saying anything, Aimi controlled the heart with her soul consciousness, sending it into the depths of the clearing void.

All of a sudden, tremors began to reverberate beneath the earth of Dahuang Plains as the spot where the heart went turned a pure white.

The white light shone brightly, blinding everyone. The next second, they found themselves somewhere else.

This new place was like an underground labyrinth, multiple paths winding away from certain spot. From a bird eye view, the place would appear like a complex labyrinth with them at the entrance.

Makato smiled: "We have recreated the Progenitor's Extent. Let's take the left path. We'll be meeting the seniors soon"

A single thought later, he added: "And be careful, we might meet other humans too"

…..

Space distorted to reveal Lu Zheng. His body was completely bare as faint wisps of the Vermillion True Flame burnt around him.

"I'm still alive…" Lu Zheng mumbled as he clenched his fists.

He had already moved all the items in his spatial ring into the sphere of darkness in his Soul Lake. Lu Zheng simply retrieved a robe from it.

He extended his Sea of Consciousness but when it reached the limits of the Soul Lake, it struck it dully like it hit a barrier. His Sea of Consciousness could not extend past his Soul Lake.

~It seems I can't use my Sea of Consciousness here~

Lu Zheng shook his head and gazed at the many paths before him. The space he was in was very dark and dimly lit. The walls around him hummed silently as the darkness revolved eerily.

The darkness was faint wisps of chaos energy.

~But, the suppression from Dahuang Plains is gone~

A strong wave of dizziness struck Lu Zheng which made him realise how tired he was. His Qi leaves were thoroughly empty and his Qi fruits were only dim outlines of themselves. Only the fragmented Qi fruit was overflowing with Essence.

Lu Zheng's stomach growled with hunger that made him shake all over. He could barely maintain his consciousness due to the strong hunger.

His fleshy energy was depleted and his human Qi only remained as small faint wisps of life energy. He was on the brink of death.

Although the Seed of Chaos did not kill Lu Zheng, he was certainly at death's gate.

"First, I shall reinforce my cultivation base. Then, I'll have my revenge"

Space distorted as Lu Zheng used the power of the Vermillion Sacred Prism. A secret space formed around Lu Zheng like a glass box that was infinitely small. No one could perceive his presence in the labyrinth.

Shortly after, more people appeared at the entrance to the labyrinth. These people were people that Lu Zheng knew.

Yu Er Dan, Yi Kexin, An Yin, Alaka'i, Gu clansmen…

They all began to appear randomly at the entrance to the labyrinth. They appeared in twos and threes and were mixed randomly. Some Gu clansmen were mixed with the Dong clansmen and the Xiong clansmen with the Yi clansmen.

Their expressions were of surprise as they appeared but they did not linger long. Some separated and entered the tunnels while others went in together.

No one stayed for long.

Lu Zheng was also present, hidden in the secret space as he cultivated earnestly. He did not sense the arrival of the others and did not care. He was sure of the concealing abilities of the Vermillion Sacred Prism.

With the aid of the fragmented Qi fruit, his Qi leaves and Qi fruits were soon brimming with Qi and Essence. His Qi tree regained his sturdy form that seemed to grow for many tens of metres in his aperture.

Yet, Lu Zheng did not stop cultivating. His human Qi had fallen considerably that he was near death but human Qi was difficult to accumulate. Even after consuming the meat of high rank beasts and restoring his fleshy energy, his human Qi was still low.

It was only natural. After all, as martial practitioners grew on, their human Qi would become denser correspondingly. The human Qi was different for all beasts and races.

Fleshy energy, blood Qi, luck, talent, they were all present within the human Qi.

Hence, the depletion of Lu Zheng's human Qi was nearly the same as crippling his cultivation. If he did not have Xue Ritian's experience, Lu Zheng would have cursed his fate and given up.

Even so, Lu Zheng did not know any other way to accumulate human Qi than by consuming the meat of high rank beasts. The refined fleshy energy inside their meat contained dense human Qi that was beneficial for all martial practitioners.

Lu Zheng had the Vermillion Bird Race bloodline. His human Qi was far denser than that of any other race.

Time was all that he needed to restore his human Qi.
